I like it. The
balloons add an unexpected and unique element. It may be due to the scale or due to my eyes but perhaps something to help some of the smaller ones stand out a tad more.

I like the effect on the first one, both the defocusing and the
vignetting add a lot to the picture; the second one, however, is not as interesting to me. Just my humble opinion.

The tree needs more separation from the background. I think it would work better if the
depth of field had been extended a bit more so that the whole trunk was in focus and only the background was out of focus. Finally, it looks like the color saturation is a bit jacked up, but that may just be the way it was in real life.

Matt, I'll give it a "nice try," but Pup is right, it won't quite fly. You made the shot with a Canon Powershot G10 hend-held at 1/4 second, and that was too slow to cancel the movement of the people, which the camera's
image stabilization won't help cancel. In addition there's some obvious camera motion that the stabilization system wasn't able to damp at that slow a shutter speed. There ...
