there is some truth to that when science is wrong people just say, well we learned more and updated that... but if something in religion is wrong... oh boy - drama! even though faith just get updated similarly as culture and time changes. it is true religion is much slower to evolve... i kinda take a hard line to science (as science does to "religion") so yea - the lies, myths, and hypothesis taught as truths is in many ways...

all things equal, weight hurts the most when you have to accelerate it. FWIW I haven't seen the episode of mythbusters you speak of, but occasionally they don't get all of the details just right.
