I've washed cars in public car washes many times over the years, and the whole 'soap is too strong' argument I think is more academically correct than practically accurate. If you maintain your finish with a good wax, I've seen the finish on cars washed regularly in car washes hold up just fine over many years. There is nothing magical about the Lotus paint job...well, other than it's usually a pretty bad paint job. I...

The cat and mouse game was also hilarious. We gotta do that again.

Keep a car cover on your car when not driving it. That's what I do. The car is VERY small. Yu can wipe off any spots that occur. Keep a spray bottle in the car in a bag with towels in it so it doesn't bang around. NO CAR WASH. Don't let anyone else touch your Lotus.

Thanks for the recommendations. I don't have time before the auto-x to go to the shop in Gaithersburg, so would it be a complete waste of time to set the ride height without corner balancing? -robert

I think the corner balancing is more important than ride height. I'd say, leave the ride height alone until you are able to corner balance it. This is of course if everything is stock and you have not changed things already. My car was pretty darn close to being balanced stock.

Article about Elise that mentions MR2 as predecessor
I recently read an article here a few days ago that mentioned (jokingly of course) that if the first generation MR2 went into a time warp (in space) and returned in 2005, it would have come back as an Elise. Does anyone recall that article? I have an '89 MR2 and from what I've read over ...

I was shopping at Lowes in the Christmas decoration isle and came across the Elise/Santa tree ornament (couldn't find them last year). Get em' while you can - they make great stocking stuffers.

Leaving the car on jack-stands (and thus the A-arms with tires hanging), is not very good for a suspension. Modern radial tires aren't going to flat-spot in a few months, and any unevenness should roll out in a few miles.
Putting in a full tank of gas and fuel stabilizer and running it long enough to make sure is is in the fuel system is a good idea.
If you can't keep the battery on a tender ...

So my Elise is part of the Sacramento Auto Show this weekend. I'm parked in the EuroSunday pavillion, with some very nice high-horsepower representation on the floor.
Here are some pics from my phone to get you started, I'll take more this weekend. These are of my car and its neighbours.

If you want both wet and dry it is hard to find everything in one tire at the 195/50/16 dimension. I've been looking for a sticky tire that I could use in the rain on track days since I drive to the track. Tire Rack in the USA recommended the Bridgestone RE11 because the 205/45/16 front has an overall diameter that is only three tenths of an inch different than the stock LTS Yokos and is rated ...

Shucks darn! I've misplaced another key. Seems I have a habit of losing something when I come off the track at the end of a weekend.
Anyway, I recently sent my spare key blank away to an unknown LotusTalker in a fit of generosity. Any more out there?

Why would you continue to deal with these guys after they lied to you?
If something sounds too good to be true IT PROBABLY IS.
They lied to you for a reason.
The car is priced so low for a reason.
It has a salvage title for a reason.
This car spun enough to hit something on both ends...so there was plenty of energy involved.
Move on before your emotions buy you a stupid decision.
