Disconnecting battery
Published (2009-11-11 04:11:00)
As above, but additionally, it is VERY important to make sure it is fully charged when you remove it, especially if you do not intend to leave it on a maintainer otherwise it will sulfate. Michael

Have you checked all your connections where you're splicing into your wiring harness?

Has anyone done a proper HID...
Published (2009-11-10 09:44:00)
Here is the only Pic I could find. Doesn't show much of the HID setup. If you look close you can see the Hella unit poking out of the main beam. We painted the inner headlight area behind the lens because the 07+ headlight assemblies have to be heated and completely disassembled to access the main beam mount. I'll keep an eye out for better pics... I know Allen has some awesome ones if he cares to share

Intermittent electrical short
Published (2009-11-09 21:13:00)
I'm having a short on my parking/side lamps that occurs only intermittently. When it occurs I instantly lose parking and instrument lamps, and find fuse f16 to be blown. Here is the history; 2005 Elise Have gone through 5 fuses so far. First time I noticed it I was on a long drive from San Francisco to Vegas and had the trunk stuffed. I had replaced the battery before leaving. On the drive I lost all parking and Inst Panel lamps. Replaced...

Towing with the Elise - yes, no...
Published (2009-11-09 16:15:00)
With the small trailer as obtained via Harbor Freight, even with the tires loaded, on the Elise (lights are fairly high) one can easily see the car's brake lights and turn signal lights. I am using the front license plate as the trailer's license plate and that can also be easily illuminated by clear LEDs. Reflectors can easily be added (glued or velcro'ed). So, yes a cop could still pull me over technically. It all depends on...

Seems like a voltage drop problem. What happens if you only turn on the lights after you have started the engine? As it recently started, I would look for loose or corroded connection on the lights that may be causing a high resistance.

Specifically, I'm talking about this: The Retrofit Source (U.S.) - HID Projector Retrofit Kits, Retrofit and HID Componenents, Projectors Lens, Wiring Harnesses, Shrouds and more!

In addition to the side lights, F16 feeds various other instrument and switch indicator lights, therefore there are many places a short could be. Other than sequentially pulling connectors off of these items, it could also be inside the Switch Pack Module. Have you had any work done on the car that could have damaged the relevant wires?

In an 05 i'm reasonably sure thats part of the clusters cal, but i'd expect it to revert back to mph and degrees C for temp if it lost the cal, since thats the default for the UK.
Its a new one on me, i'm not aware of any secret sequence to change it around, i'd check the manual though

I just did a quick search on the web and saw a number of forums saying it was the same as the Braille branded battery. But, I can't say for sure that is accurate.
I saw online prices (before shipping) as low as $63.95 at online stores, and $55 on ebay (with $12 shipping).
It appears it may be sold under the brand name "Big Crank" as well.
