Adenhart's last performance was unforgettable, all right. Wish I'd thought of that one!

"Ninth inning vs. Boston in the playoffs hands down. " Mine too without a doubt Worst Angel moment? Figgins and Aybar looking at each other as the ball drops for a hit against the Yanks (here we go again) close 2nd, A-Rods tying homerun in the ALCS

Unless we trade Fuentes, I'd prefer the Angels get a #5 starting pitcher, so Palmer could go to the bullpen. We've already got six relievers: Fuentes, Shields, Rodney, Jepsen, Bulger, and Palmer. We don't need another relief pitcher. We need a short-term #5 starting pitcher, until Reckling is ready to be promoted.

Carlos Zambrano anyone?
Published (2009-12-28 20:26:00)
A trend is beginning to be realized in much of MLB. The Lackey contract could be the last biggy. The last year of his contract is for minimum salary IF...IF..he has arm probs the year before. Something like that. Five years for a pitcher going on 32 is too risky. Zambrano is even riskier and costlier.

-- As for the Mariners, various pro baseball 'experts' from the national media really like the Seattle team for 2010, and they admit that Seattle's GM is not done dealing yet. -- And the pro baseball 'experts' liked the 2008 Ms when they picked up Bedard. You have to realize the national baseball 'experts', would flunk virtually any advanced math class. These experts look at the Ms as an 87 win team and then...

Can't overlook Sean O'Sullivan's ML debut in SF beating Lincecum on Irish Heritage Night.... 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 5 k. That game was the real turning point in the season in my eyes.

Obviously, the best moment of the season was the ninth inning in Boston. That was the best moment in Angel history since game 7 '02. Another memorable moment was when we had all 9 batters in our line up at or above .300. It was definitely a peak though as they immediately went into a funk following it. it really would have been something if they had sustained it for more than a few innings....

I'd trade GMJ for anything............especially pitching. the only thing I wouldn't do is take on more contract than we owe GMJ. he's wasted money sitting on our bench.

I think the Angels should have looked at Escobar closely. They more than anyone know what to look for when he is healthy. If healthy, we all know he can pitch with the best of them. He has as much upside as Sheets or any of the other injured...making a comeback pitchers out there. He can start or relieve...I wish the Angels would have signed him to a minor league contract and see what ...

I ddin't read anywhere in the article the name of Kazmir. I didn't read anywhere in the article that the Ms were outscored by 52 runs. I didn't reand anywhere in the article about what the Ms lost. The Rangers "may be" a threat, the Ms are not.

Wow, that's a lot of money for a middle reliever. But it's also a lot less than he was after. I like the fact that we got another power arm... now it's up to Butcher to harness it. Thanks for the post.

Thank goodness it's only 2 years and not a crazy amount of money. The problem here is that this doesn't even reek of Gary Matthews all over again, it's much worse. At least Matthews had 1 fluke year that could in some manner (I still don't understand it) justify giving him 50 million over 5 years. Rodney blows, is an average middle relief man and hasn't posted an era under 4 in who knows how ...

This confirms that Arte is not "cheap" and Tony Reagins is not "clueless" as most of the "panicky" fans continue to argue. It is exactly what it should be when the Angels lose a free agent. The team determines how long they are willing to risk a contract to a player, and when another team exceeds that, the Angels say goodbye. So Arte was willing to pay the going yearly salary for Lackey, ...
