The iPhone is locked to one network exclusively in most of the countries, except a few countries which actually prohibits this by law to control any monopoly. Hence Apple is forced to sell it on multiple networks in such countries, and even unlocked ones at a higher price. Australia too has strict laws concerning competition and trade practices in place.
