The 98-01 Ford Mach and Premium radios are full Pioneer HU's. Those are the same large size as most late Fords, and easy to find since they had a display issue($60 repair).

If I remember correctly, this in dash CD changer sits on the bus with everythhing else in the car. if that is true, then you would need something to control it because it would go from: Radio ---- Bus ---- Changer for control. changer ---- radio for sound.

I want to replace my factory stereo cassette with a CD receiver. What size stereo will fit? Are there any pitfalls to watch out for? Also, I don't have a separate clock - the clock is in the stereo. Any recommendations for a stereo with a big clock display, where the clock is always on even when the radio is off?

Just trawl ebay for a CD radio from a Town Car. You're going to have no surprises then, will have your clock, illumination will be correct (and dimming) and you will gain RDS for the FM band. Oh, as a rule, nobody's going to try to jack it.

the steering wheel controls are nice...and so are the speakers..however when a good song comes on and u want to turn it up, it sucks. It completely cuts out any bass and I can talk louder then the stereo with it full blast. Its actually quite sad. So I installed a $300 pioneer stereo and added two subs and a 1500watt amp.. It Sounds awesome now but no steering wheel controls and no in dash cd ...

The music system in our Townies was designed to keep the interior space sealed. Note how the two OEM 6X9's have a metal enclosure. If all you wanted was bass, your cheapest bet would be buy a 12" and a box. Take out your subwoofer enclosure and wire the box in it's place, leave the box in the trunk somewhere. But I think your road noise will increase. I have noticed that outside the car, even ...
