Try taking the cables off of the throttle body, see if the thottle blade moves smoothly then. You need to isolate what is actually binding. You may have to pull the entire body off to soak it in cleaner, but you must get it to move freely. As for the IAC, did you spray it with cleaner, or did you take it apart? If may need to be taken apart, but concentrate on the throttle body first Until that is moving correctly, you will not get good...

The car runs fine above idle so I'll start with the vacuum lines. I'll bring a tester too to ensure the harness is good. I appreciate the direction, no need to throw money at it just yet. I'll let you know how it goes. Best Regards

QUOTE (Lexucan @ Aug 26 2007, 01:49 PM) Here's a previous thread about replacing the taillight bulbs with nice pics and everything! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=15005 So way cool! Thank you Lexucan and a really special thanks to DKRC-2003 (I sent a PM message to him). Feel sorry for the 1156 screw up. Never force a bulb or a square peg...so to speak. Wonder how that turned out?

How Many Quarts Of Amsoil Atf Do...
Published (2009-12-09 19:32:00)
Quick question everyone I have 97 ES300 and plan to do 3 drain and fills and was wondering how much Amsoil ATF I should buy. I thought I remember reading somewhere that it takes 3.7 quarts for a drain and fill, but wasn't sure if this was correct (can't find it in the owners manual for some reason). Rounding out to 4 x 3 = 12 quarts? Thanks!

The big issue with those cars is the engine oil gelling issue. Without proper oil change intervals the engine oil can gel up into a sludge causing total engine failure. I certainly wouldn't buy ANY 97-01 ES without good maintenance records.

You should not have adj the throttle stop screw. If possible, try to return it to the original position. It sounds like you have a couple problems. First, the sticking throttle, Remove the rubber intake tube, and check the throttle blade. It probably has a buildup of dirt around the blade and body. This is restricting the normal airflow into the engine. Get a can of carb cleaner, use a ...

You are not very clear on your description. Does it sound like the engine is turning over? Can you hear the starter engage, does the starter sound like it is turning over?

That is a significant event, for a couple reasons. The rust can be preventing the new sensor from seating properly. I believe the sensor is a reluctance sensor (there is a winding, which generates a voltage when the teeth of the tone ring pass the sensor). The gap between the teeth and the sensor is important, it there is rust or other issues with the seating surface, you will see problems....

EGR is nothing but pipe. open , clean and install with new gasket. Make sure when you clean both side, dust (Carbon) should fall outside. you needs to change upper part of EGR. which has electrical connection. mine was 97 ES300. I had same error code and i end up spending only $35 Orailly selling for $35 if i remember EGR500 is part no. please confirm with them your car model and year. ...

First I would check the fluid level in the brake resevoir, if that looks good than I would suggest that you take it down and have the code read. If the light is on, there is a problem. You need to find out what the problem is.

QUOTE (1990LS400 @ Dec 7 2009, 06:32 AM) I've bought hard copies of Lexus repair manuals from both U.S. and Canadian Lexus dealers -- the manuals cover both Canadian and U.S. spec cars. The set I have for my 00 LS came from Metro Lexus in Victoria, BC. There are sometimes used hard copy and CD manuals on eBay. Some people have reported that some of the eBay manuals on CD's have ...
