here's how I did it for my two. got the recall solid using the Ecollar cranked them up and threw the ball and sent them out, gave them platz command, gave correction, once they platz I would send them out to get the ball and bring the ball. then I moved on from platz to heir, once they start running towards me I send them out for the ball. then moved on to the send out to heir. At first I screwed it up and the poor dog thought she was...

Maybe the sleep deprivation is getting to me but since when is justice done via petition? They caught the guy, he'll go before a judge, I'm sure he'll not get a kind sentence considering he stole the dog for what appears to be no reason and apparently has a criminal history. I hate this crime as much as anyone else does but I fail to see what a digital lynch mob will accomplish.

My male is almost always on the edge of excitment & always ready to instigate a spat if he gets the chance with my female. (She is a very reactive dog & will engage him if he starts it up). He carries his tail high most of the time, even inside. (he is a full GSD no mix here)I am always aware of his other postures & eye contact with her in order to short circut any confrontations that may erupt. He is also quick to get his hair up...

I can't figured out what took me so long to get a pair of these, my feet haven't been this warm in weeks. I may go get a pair in black next week. I have tucked the clicler into my mittens before and clicked it that way, but it wouldn't work with treats very well.

Mellisa and Debbie thanks for the responses, I have been a bit worried about leaving anything in the crate with her for fear of destruction and choking. I am a huge fan of bully stix an usually reward her with some while she is out of the crate and supervised. She doesn't care at all for the everlasting treat ball or kongs. I currently have been leaving a Holee roller in there for her to chew on, why she does chew on it a little it...

That dog is just too cute! That's my kinda day! You know, a little Corgi is why I'm back in dog land. We dog sat my friend's sweetie names Jacob for 10 days. When he left, we were bereft. We waited a month to make sure it wasn't an impulse decision, then took the plunge and got Cali. Thing is, Jacob's idea of a walk was three houses--laziest dog ever! But SO cute!

He reminds me of Bolt. I think he looks Jindo. My friend had a Jindo, and they are pretty common in CA. I've never seen a Thai Ridgeback outside of the Internet. Both are cool dogs though. He's s great looking guy either way!

As far as I know (ie I could be wrong) up until the fall of the Wall and the collapse of the East/West borders in Europe the Czech dogs were primarily bred for border guard dogs and were controlled to a large part by the state apparatus. I think it depends more on the individual dog now than the label Czech as after the fall of the borders the Czech lines continued as border dogs but the ...

Have you worked with him on a leave it command at all? It's kind of a
general purpose stop what your doing and then you could recall him.

How long have you had him? I could be completely wrong, but it looks like that mix has some husky/akita/mal-type breed in it. Which would explain the carriage. I would study his posture rather than the tail for a better read on the dog until you get to know him better. This might be the pessimist in me and PLEASE don't take this the wrong way but.. Only thing that makes me hesitate- Off leash ...

We the undersigned urge the court in Denver, Colorado to give Steven Clay Romero, the man charged in the dragging death on December 30, 2009 of a German Shepherd named Buddy behind his truck for three miles the maximum penalty of three years in federal prison, $100,000 fine and one year probation for this horrific crime. Do not let this crime go unpunished for the horrible death of an innocent ...

You could always try one of the DNA tests. I heard mixed reviews about them but I know someone who got reasonable results. I guess it depends on your area- how likely would it be to find that breed. In mine, I'm lucky to see anything other than a beagle or a lab. If I saw a Jindo, I'd drop dead from shock.

Hi Dale, A walk a couple of times a day is fine; around the block kind of thing is appropriate for a 12 week old. Fetch is great and so is tugging until he starts to teethe. Avoid excessive jumping. What sort of corrections are you referring to? ie, for obedience, or for pack-structure issues? Mostly at this age you want to be redirecting inappropriate behaviors (such as mouthing) and ...

How old is Loki? Adult, right? Puppy food is NOT appropriate food for adult dogs. The calcium/phosphorus and protein ratios are way off. I don't even feed puppy food to puppies once they start teething. The nutrition in it is designed to support skeletal growth. (I know you were thinking that it is more calorie-dense, which it is, but I think the mineral and protein balance is what you should be...

Tom, I don't see why ya'll can't be one big happy pack. You didn't link the article you made allusion to, but it sounds more like a prospective working dog piece rather than a companion family dog essay. In the group setting as you described, imo the hard part will be getting the family to learn the rules of engagement with the dog. And if life at the house is as busy with strangers as you say ...

Do you have any enclosed and boring (low distraction) area where you can do the starter work? Also, do you by any chance have a way to post a video clip?

Any dog can be trained with markers, and there are plenty of people here
with small dogs to help. My corgi is marker trained. At 32lbs he's not
exactly small, but he's not large either. Good luck and have fun!
