I would do once a year service. With that accumulation of hours, that should be fine. Just check your oil level every time you use the machine.

If it takes me over a year to get to 100 hrs. Should I consider a actual time frame? Every 6 months? At least once a year?

Here is a thread with pictures of lubrication points for Dixie Choppers. Scroll down to picture #11 for the diesel. The thread is from 2004 but is still fairly accurate. The grease fitting in picture #16 is probably the hardest to see. http://www.lawnforums.com/showthread.php?t=6048

Definately sounds like fuel is getting by the needle and seat in the carb, being you have tried another carburetor, the only thing that comes to mind is maybe the fuel tank is getting pressure build up inside and enough pressure to force fuel by the needle and seat. Or you have something in the fuel line contaminating the carburetor. Good luck.

There could be some obstruction in the one tank that drains out slower. Not sure if there are screens in the tanks.

Given your options I think id go with a 2760 classic. Also would consider a leftover 60" with a 27 Kohler,a little better on fuel, but also a little less hp than a 27 Generac..

The backfire is normal. Let the engine idle a good while before you kill it, or, kill it at about half throttle. The backfire has to do with the carb. settings to meet emission regulations.
