Is your new belt a wrapped belt or raw edge belt? The spring the engagement arm should be compressed about 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 inches when the blades are engaged. I've noticed that sometimes the wrapped belts tend to still want to make just enough contact with the engine pulley to slightly turn the blades until they get worn in some. Also, sometimes the tension idlers might not be fully disengaging. The guide arms in the rear shouldn't...

check throttle butterfly screws they may have backed out causing it to hang open just a bit , checking this involves removing carb.

We have the same problem. Belt was purchased from the dealer. What do you mean...wrapped belt?

I'd check your idler pulleys and make sure the belt isn't too tight first. If it all seems to be fine you can usually just idle the mower down when you finish and the blades usually don't start spinning again. If they keep spinning when the mower is idling the belt is definitely too tight.

Got on my dixie to mow and battery was down, jumped it off and mowed my mother in law's leaves and then parked it to put it up. Blew it off and next when I fired it up it was at max rpm and I couldn't adjust it with the throttle. It was running about 4100 rpms. Got it in the carport and parked it. Checked all the calbe travel and it seemed fine, but fired it up today and it just ran at idle and ...

As long as the height is the same you should not have a problem swapping out your rear tires. However,if they are a different height you will need to have your deck pitch re-adjusted. Your local Dixie Chopper dealer would be the first place to start.

I would go with the filter it says to use just to be safe. It's usually better to stick with the manufacturers parts.

I had one from craftsman one time, 38 in sweeper. Its was rather impressive with what it would pick up. It was difficult to back up and dump.
