To all the helpful photographers who replied...here's a tip of me hat William, next time I'm in our museum you can bet I'll look for your 2 photographs. Congratulations on that! I was told of weekend workshop offered my Danny Burke in Tennessee or North Carolina. If anyone here has been to that workshop, why not send me a PM or contact me to give your opinion. Jeff

Henry Horenstein's books, Black and White Photography, and Beyond Basic Photography are excellent. The section on view cameras in Beyond Basic Photography is about the best at explaining the essentials of large format photography that I have seen. Jon

See thread below about Bruce Barlow's "Finely Focused" book on CD for using the camera. It is a great fun read and lots of info.

Steve Simmons' book "Using the View Camera" is very good. It covers the basics, then adds information on lenses, film, and movements. Best of all - it does not encourage the low road - digital hybridization.

I recently got into large format as well. I bought a Crown Graphic cameras my first. It is more limited in its flexibility compared to most other ones, but it was very affordable (including the lens) and gets my feet wet. Might be something you might want to consider as well. (of course, if you have a camera already, never mind. :-) ).

Claudio, I would recommend that you talk with someone who has had "print on demand" experience as well as traditional press work. This may be especially helpful to an NGO which is not in a position to pay all of the upfront costs of layout, printing in China or India and keeping a large inventory on the hopes they will sell. The print on demand changes the paper choices and binding ...

I get my bags and boxes from Clearbags.com. I believe you can also get mat board there too, but I have mine supplied from a local frame shop. American Frame would be a good source.
