Nitty - So many of us use food for comfort from emotional pain. It works somehow, but it is a double edged sword. I am trying to thank the system that has helped me cope with the rough road of my life, but telling the "fat seeker" that there is a new healthier me here right now. I want to feel my pain not hide from it. I feel ready. That is part of my journey. I wish you well. I have always had to use food for comfort, and...

Angie parents don't get a book on parenting when they have kids. They are, afterall, just people - some with less smarts than others. You probably already know that their problems are probably within themselves, and it isn't really about you. They just take it out on you because they can. But that's no excuse and there's no reason why you have to put up with it. It is very empowering to cut the ties that truly bind you up....

hatmama--I too lost mine due to chemo---I lost it all....hair, eyelashes, all of it. It happened suddenly, and there was little need to shave it, within a couple of days it was mostly gone---the remainder we used duct tape and pulled! Sounds painful...I don't remember it being, but honestly I was in such a state of shock...it is hard to say for sure. Now when I lost it, I lost lighter blonde, stick straight hair. It grew back in darker,...

Trish, all I see is your smiling sunshine face. Next time get the license plate number and ol' DeLarla will hunt her down for you. I'm really good at dealing with that kinda person. Some young kids did that to me once, and I chased them down in my car laughing. I told them, "you wouldn't be checking me out if you didn't think I was sexy, huy baby?" The guy that made the fat joke turned beat red while his...

Yikes! I have thin hair to begin with, I hope I dont have hair loss. I can deal with it though. Does anyone know why it doesn't seem to start falling out until several months after surgery? I think I'll start on the folic acid now!

11 months out and no problems. I did have a gallbladder removed, but I don't consider that a Lap Band complication. I'm healthy, happy and down 68 pounds. Can't beat that with a stick. I'm slowing way down on my loss, but that was due to the complete unfill for the gallbladder and having to start over with fills. It will happen. I dont regret it for a minute.

Thanks for your input NurseMelly.
The main reason I don't want the sleeve , is that I'm 90% sure my insurance will not pay for it, and I do not have $10,000 to pay for it out of pocket.
The second reason is because I am not comfortable having an irreversible surgery that takes away 70-80% of my stomach.
At least with lapband, I am able to do something about it, when I am having all of...

Okay, gutter or not, I read all the post and I thought about them all especially what "bandster_1007" said. LOL:)
Did you tell her that you had the LAP-BAND®? And what gave her the right to think that you'd know what she meant considering it was her friend, unless she's undercover and it was actually her.
Maybe that was the night I missed and they mentioned that at one of my support group mtgs...

One more thing, I keep reading that you will have to take all your medications as liquid only, and my surgeon's nurse told me today that I could take them all normally. I told her I take 9 pills at night, and 3 metformin pills during the day, and she said that was fine. Help!!

Re: Freakin' Holidays permalink
I had FOUR parties in EIGHT days. I was good, don't get me wrong. I didn't eat plates full of food. But I got on the scale on Sunday, after the last party, and I was up 9 pounds. Now, I KNOW I didn't eat 32,000 extra calories in 8 days so the culprit had to be sodium for the most part. I didn't prepare all that food, and I'm ...
