They do respond to tuning, very well. I was talking to someone who had took their td5 to a firm called td5 alive. He reckons it goes like hell (for a disco).

Play on steering - what's...
Published (2009-11-25 22:11:00)
You can reduce it by adjuster on the top of the steering box, a bit tight in there tho'. I had play in my 300tdi and took the slack out the box using this which made a big difference but on a later occasion whilst under the front I grabbed the steering drop arm..........it was loose. After tightening this up my steering is now like a normal car.

And if so, what does your insurance think about it?

Just buy one new they're not expensive. Paddocks or craddocks or some other place on the interweb. Or you could go old school and get one from your local parts place.

Now you've done the egr, you want to flush the intercooler out if you haven't already done it. You'll be amazed how much crap comes out and it should improve power and economy further. I noticed the difference big time.
