Problem is you can only use those with a constant single speed system, not one with an already built in electronic timer.

Yes I agree, I was probably using the term loosely. It's more accurate to say that it lacks the ingredients to enable it to produce the energy that premium fuels do. I don't means 'branded' fuels but the premium versions of those brands like Shell V Power and BP Ultimate. I use supermarket fuel and if (on the rare occasion) the other half fills up I notice instantly that she hasn't added the millers purely by the...

should get the land rover version as generic ones are usually worse than crap.....the one for the rear window is useful too as it means you can get some fresh air to the mutts whilst keeping them secure

Thank you Steve, i was thinking of contacting trading standards myself. However, the word "brand" new was never mentioned and this is where i will find myself coming unstuck. A second hand gearbox is "new" to the car just not "Brand New" I did drive it yesterday and today and it is running MUCH better so i am actually happy but i am still not impressed with the dealer telling me i was...

Good choice that, great in the winter months with the heated screen, FBH and the heated front seats.
Fair price too according to Parker's. Enjoy.....

It is difficult to give a definitive answer as to the condition of a vcu. It is supposed to slip but it does offer considerable resistance to this slip. Usually if it is too tight it will cause judder on full lock. If you are experiencing wheel slip on a loose surface then that can be normal but it should not cause wheel slip on tarmac.
Using a vcu that is excessively tight will cause very ...

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't put different tyres on the same axle.
As you say, new ones on rear axle.

Don't think so Malc, it seems to be set electronically internally. You'll
just have to do it manually.

We test drove 3 Freelanders when looking to buy one. When driving I noticed that when cornering at very low speeds, like in car parks, or doing a 3 point turn especially, the car seems to lock up and 'drag' round corners. When driving one from the main dealer, it didnt do it as much, but then, I was on a gravelly road. The 2 others that I drove did do it, it was on a supermarket carpark where ...

I'll have a stab - I am not particularly familiar with the freelander
autobox, but I have a question, does it usually happen when cold towards
the begining of a journey? If so it could be a sticking valve in the
gearbox, when cold the oil does not flow so freely so this is when it is
most likely to stick. I believe on the Freelander it is possible to replace
these valves without removing the ...

Check that the 2 side windows are properly done up.
I would doubt that you would get much leaking from the hard back, considering the size of the guttering around it's mount.

Freelander goes Boom!
Hi all,
I have a 2001 V6 gaylander, that has had a new viscous coupling and front propshaft, due to vibration around 50-60mph.
lately, when accelerating out of corners, or flooring it by stamping down on the pedal, I get this awful, sickening "boom" from the rear of the car.
Has anyone heard of this?
Is it...

I doubt whether a main dealer would go that far, and if they did it would only be if you specified it and were prepared to pay for it.
My personal experienceis that main dealers never offer as good a service as the independent specialist.
And remember, the fact that you are so pleased with the whole set-up is grounds enough to remain a customer there.
From what you say, stay put.
