I'd certainly check the arm attachments of those sensors to the main rear radius arm. The bush corrodes and bursts out of the rubber moulding. Peter

You will have to take the door card off and look.... maybe the connecting rod or clip has come adrift.

Themostat?

I would imagine its the same as the Disco 1, you have to remove the fan otherwise its very tight to get at the bolts. It does sound like a sticking stat thou, a lot cheaper then a water pump, and pretty simple to change & check with a jug of water & thermometer.

TD5 not starting when she is hot.
Published (2009-11-09 17:59:00)
For information Purge procedures for TD5 are If there's air inside the lines: 1. Shut off 2. Wait 15 seconds 3. Turn key to position 2 (contact) 4. Wait 30 seconds 5. Shut off for 5 seconds Repeat this 4-5 times so the air gets purged out If you run out of fuel: 1. Floor the right pedal 2. Let the starter turn for 30 seconds If it did not yet start, wait and let the starter cool down. When the ECU does not detect a running engine after...

Removing alpine lights
Published (2009-11-09 20:24:00)
I generally use trees to remove them, but that doesnt help you much does it?LOL! Seriously getting them out is pretty easy, remove the filler strip and ease them out. A piece of string in the rubber with a little lubricant is the easiest way of getting them back in.Rubbers are usually past thier best and quite soft anyway

Transmission fluid change?
Published (2009-11-09 21:33:00)
Changed all fluids on Saturday past including a flush and replacement of the coolant. Took about 3 hours to do it but well worth the doing. I put lucas engine additive into the ep90 and mixed it all up 3.5 oil to 2 litres of the lucas. Used a manual oil pump to put it into the boxes and diffs, and you know its full when it overflows - really clever! I must say the stuff that come out of all the boxes/diffs wasnt much better than water. I...

Thanks Peter Are there any safety issues with working with the height sensors? If the multiplug is disconnected will the suspension drop down or anything? Cheers, Andy

hiya, yes this is a common fault with the springs within the mechanism, basically the springs wear so they dont retract fully, without looking i would have said you can get replacement springs but unsure, contact my mate bananahead (on my friends list) he has a disco for breaking so he might still have the locking mechanism. good luck phil

I'd be inclined to have a look first, there's not a lot of technology in that rotating coupling, plus you could drop Ric a message through ebay and see if he has one, ebay user "landroverspareparts" or Russ: "squibs063"
I was at Ric's place yesterday picking up the Disco 2 chassis.
Just be careful with the airbag!

on the TD5 it is adjusted on the backplate of the handbrake drum. If that
doesn't do the trick then the handbrake cable needs adjusting

The pre EDC 300 TDI are very good starters if all the earths are good and
intact with a good battery. If it is spinning over fast enough but not
firing it could be the excess fuel device is not working or you are using
the throttle when starting or other fuel related problem such as a sticking
fuel stop solenoid or air in the fuel. Check the glow plugs as well
although they aren't really needed ...

I'd put the original chassis back under it. As far as I'm aware it's illegal to do what you're proposing.
Am sure someone will confirm or otherwise but I think you could be getting into a difficiult area by using a second hand chassis.

Hi James
I've never heard of any stockists. Mail order is likely your best bet. I've seen some for sale in LRO and have seen them the very odd time on Ebay.
Cheers, Andy

Welcome to the forum.
You might want to take a look where the brake servo is located and check all the black rubber hose's around 3/8 dia, they feed the cruise control switch in the brake pedal, throttle linkage and the main vacuum unit, if they are split then you need to replace, otherwise the fault is elsewhere.

Look up ' dim-dip relay' on the Forum, I think that this is possibly involved, although there are other electrickery devices in the circuit.

Albert:
Oiling the sleeve bearings won't harm any thing, and would prolong their life if anything. Has the commutator on the motor worn down significantly?
The start-up or speed-up current of the motor is what seems to be causing the problem, unless you have something else hanging on that fuse at the same time that might be causing the problem?
If it runs OK out of the car then I'd...
