I am not sure she is ok. I did not realize this when I got her but now that I look at it. She is shedding like a heavily shedding grown dog does, she's got "dandruff", her poo is kinda green, and she kinda farts a lot. I was thinking it is her diet, and her former owner was feeding her purina puppy chow(I didn't hear too many good things about it). I am gonna fast her tonight and give her the...

About 5 weeks ago, I started taking Lucy to the dog park -- probably almost every day. She's 7 months old. She soon started coughing and hacking -- making a funny face when she did so. She did this may 10 -15 times a day. After a few days, I was sure it was kennel cough, took her to the vet, who said she seemed fine -- thought maybe it was a possible nasal drip or something. That was two ...

I seems like yesterday when I had to put down my Labrador Jazz from her suffering with cancer....(March '08) Her Kitty sister Sam (Samantha) is 22 summers old and needs me to do the right thing...She was at the Vets yesterday for some fluids and Vitamin shots and some antibiotic because she's stopped eating . Now today she has not responded as in the past. She won't eat or drink and is ...

Indie had his blood drawn and a panel run so that I have a pt. of reference in the future at his annual visit on Thursday. I just got a call from the vet stating that his platelet count was a little low, it's not his red blood cells (I think) because she said it's not anemia. The vet said that sometimes the draw can result in a false low platelet. She also mentioned that it wasn't ...

we found a dog - older female choc lab - in our neighborhood, perfectly trained, well behaved, very sweet, can walk and follow of leash, newer and nice leather collar, etc ...seems to be someone's well cared for dog. The local humane society hasnt recieved any inquires yet (its been 3 days now!). It is walking with a little limp - vet said not broken, just sore from running around too much (we ...

I have two vittles vaults. I love them because they create an air-tight seal and have always kept our food fresh. I'd like to clean them out in between food bag changes. What is the best way to do this?

Hobbes is being neutered on Friday. It's time and I know it's the responsible thing to do. My problem is that it's been 13 years since I've had a dog neutered. (Gus, my other dog, is quite old.) I'd be grateful for any advice on how to help him through this. What's normal? What changes in behavior should I expect? Is there anything I should watch for other than the licking of the stiches? I...

Hey All just wondering what you all do to keep your dog's ears clean? So far I've been wiping out Jackson's ears once a week with just my finger & a tissue. I know there are those ear cleaning solutions you can buy but they are sooo expensive and I was wondering if there was a home solution that I could use that would help keep his ears heathy. This is the first time I have had a floppy eared ...

Bella was diagnosed as incontinent at the beginning of August. I KNOW it was her because I have seen her leaking. Just now I am sitting on the couch with Mari next to me and she starts licking in that area. Now she is leaking too! I thought maybe she was just licking and that would explain the wetness but she stood up and was leaking. What are the odds?!? And what else should my vet and I...

I'm writing this in tears of course. My 6 weeks old puppy diagnosed with SLE. http://www. lab-retriever.net/board/s...-t7295326.h tml I always tried to think positively up to now. But she is getting worse. I think I don't want to see the reality. I see her as a happy puppy. She lost one leg, I mean, her nerves and ligaments damaged, torn apart. her hip is dislocated because the ligament ...

The list of everything that has happened in the last 16 months with Lia healthwise is just ridiculously long. Now, poor Lia has mange. It's just one thing after the other. She's at the vet for observation right now while they do the skin scraping, culture it, shine a blacklight on the area and then treat her for the mange. Apparently there can be tremors that result from the treatment,...

It looks like Miss Nittany may have incontinence which caused her infection. She's having significanly less accidents, but still leaking urine once or twice per day. We are going to give the antibiotics another few more days, then move to an incontinence treatments if necesary. What are the pros/cons of each: DES and Proin Judeann, now's your time to help!! Thanks everyone!...

I've always known that dogs eat grass for tummy upset and it makes them throw up. However, Max eats grass, it seems, for the sake of eating grass. He hasn't thrown up, eats well (twice a day) and his poo is regular. So, just wondering, do any of your labs munch on grass for the taste of it?

I went to feed Zoey this morning and she didn't want to eat her breakfast. She seemed fine yesterday and was only a tad calmer than usual this morning. Then about and hour later she walked to her dish and ate it. So weird.....usually she's crazy about her meals. Have your dogs ever done this ?

We store Puck's bags of food--15lbs at a time--in a sealed plastic container. The past three months, as we get to the bottom of the food, Puck gets severe diarrhea. (Came home to projectile diarrhea yesterday! ) What could be causing this? I read the article 3dognite posted a long time ago on plastic storage and it seems something like that could be going on, but has anyone had these ...

Can anybody help me on this. I have a 6 month old lab pup ( Bailey). I got him at 8 weeks old. He has a champion pedigree, his father was a multi best in show champion and a very big dog. He is a black English lab and was the pick of the litter and is taking after his dad in size. He weighs 75 lbs. Because of his rapid growth, he has a condition call osteochondrosis dissecans and has developed a...
