I replaced ours back in March -- also my first experience with this type of thermostat. Usually the housing starts going to crap in a hurry on most cars, so having a new one probably isn't a bad thing.

Do you have a 160 degree thermostat? If not, I am not sure why it would be at that temp. Stock temp is around 205-210 if I remember right.

get an angles finder gauge from any auto store and have look. usually pretty easy to find and use. My best guess though is on the range of 15 degrees.

Most I have seen done have had to jack all 4 corners of the car up and put it on tall custom stands. Usually getting the car's wheels up to 2 feet off the ground and then dropping the cradle with a long reach jack. If you use a cherry picker I think you have to build some sort of cross bar to lift the uni off the engine cradle. search around I know there are write ups on this site about it.

It's normal for the idle to be erratic after a battery is disconnected/reconnected. Did you give it a few ignition cycles so the PCM could relearn the idle? BTW 525 CCA is too low, my helms says it should be at least 690.

Ignition switch/cylinder wiring, bad key resistor (dirty) or the security module is all I have I know this probably doesn't help your situation, but there is a bypass kit (not really the ideal fix if it becomes an ongoing issue, but an option). Also, here is a thread with some things in it that might help ya out. http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1427743 Good luck and I ...

Most people do not cover this issue because they just don't care. Like here in Oklahoma we do not have any inspection at all. An off-road Y is exactly that, for off road so it does not have cats. You can make all the modifications you want up there without removing your emissions but it will cost you more. You can get an LS6 intake with EGR from SLP. You can get headers with ...
