yarn forward

Usually yf means yarnover. Sometimes it's used to instruct you to bring the yarn to the front while you slip a stitch, but then it should say yb too.

Large eyelets or holes? Urgent!
Published (2009-12-06 13:23:00)
There are a few things you could try. A double yarn over creates a bigger hole/eyelet. You still k2tog after it. You could do a one row buttonhole since they can be made any size. If the hat is knit in the round they would be horizontal though and not vertical.

heel help please!
Published (2009-12-05 23:34:00)
Don't really need the link for that one, it's basic socks 101. You know how you knit back and forth to do the heel flap? That is what turning is. You just turn it over and knit the other direction, yes even though there are still stitches left. Trust the pattern. It took me about 3 pairs before I understood what was going on and I still have to look at a heel turn pattern to get started. That is a short row. It's making a...

Peacock pattern confusion

I don't know what they want you to do, but I wanted to commiserate with you. The pattern is written in an odd way and it makes it hard to know what they mean. It's a cute hat, too bad it is not clearer.

Yarn forward is bringing the yarn to the front between the needles. It usually results in a yo, depending on what follows.

need help

Oh. In that case you can tink back those stitches and when you tink back beyond the added stitch, it should just fall out on its own. I don't think there are any videos here about how to tink. You may have to look for a video online. Its not hard, its just annoying.

The videos are on the Advanced techniques page, wouldn't hurt to watch
before you get yarn.

You'll just slip that stitch, then knit the next one.
When they say "as if to purl" it just describes how you'll be holding the needles when slipping it.
Your pattern is easy....just slip, knit, slip, knit, slip, knit.
There is also a slipstitch "as if to knit", so hopefully you'll know the difference by comparison.

Are you knitting the picked up stitch so it makes a twist? Or if you knit
tight, that can actually leave holes. You could try KLL/KRL as shown on the
Increases page, they're generally considered invisible increases.

When your sts no longer fit on the circ without stretching then switch
them. You use as many dpns as you have in a set which is 4 or 5; you leave
one free to knit with and put the sts on the rest. You can also continue
knitting with the circular and one or 2 of the dpns if you prefer that. You
don't have to move the sts from one to the other, just start knitting with
one of the dpns, then pick up...

I think you're misinterpreting something there...
"k1, yo, k1, yo, k2tog 4x, k4, yo (end with k1, yo, k1, yo)"
You actually gain a stitch. There are 4 k2tog, but 5 YOs.

When you do the even numbered rows and p2tog at the end of them, one of the
sts you purl will be from the left needle and one from the right needle. So
when you purl them together you join the blocks of sts.

Would you be able to color the tips with permanent marker?? I'm not sure if it would rub off or not.
Maybe you could try it out first with a pair of "old" needles and some scrap yarn. Color the tips of a pair of needles you don't care all that much about. Cast on some stitches and knit any old thing back and forth for a bunch of rows. Then see if the marker has stayed on.
That's the ...

If it's a lacey, open shawl you can use anywhere from size 4 to 8 needles.
If it's not meant to be quite so open, then from size 3 to 5 should work.

I'm not really understanding what you are trying to do here. Could you post the full pattern so I can see how this would work out. From how its listed I dont really see why there should be any problems.

Just take the first stitch off the left needle w/o knitting it. It'll
slowly unravel. Depending on the yarn you may have to help it.

I love EZ's Sewn Bind Off. There are several tutorials on line for it. I use it for my socks when I knit toe up.
