I guess I have a 2 different problem here, first is the tok noise on shifting and the other is the cracking noise on slow movement of the vehicle which is also felt on the front. Anybody could affirm that limited slip differential is indeed had a tok noise by nature? thanks

You may have to replace the flywheel (or at least resurface) also. See if it is blue or scored up. Dave

If it is the fuel filter, a good trick to avoid having to clamp off the fuel line or something is to pull the fuel pump fuse and let the car run until it dies. Then you can remove the fuel filter without the gas being under pressure. For the record, I don't know if this is viable on the Sportage but I've seen and heard of it done on several other cars. It's a lot safer than trying to clamp the fuel line and ruining it.

OK, did mine about a month ago on my 2000. First of all, I would go to a PICK-AND-PULL and get one off another sportage. You need to undo the rods from the lock solenoid, the door handle, and the latch. Then I think you undo a couple of screws that hold it in place, then take it out. You remove the lock cylinder keeper and remove the cylinder. Remove your old cylinder and install into your new handle. Re install your new handle and reattach...

Hi, The manual hubs work the same as the vacuum hubs but you have to get out of the car car to engage them. The center section turns left to unlock right to engage about a quarter of a turn. When engaged you can use your four wheel shifter the same as before. Instrument light will not be affected. Hubs must be locked for 4 wheel drive. When four wheel drive is not needed unlock hubs to save fuel and wear on front drive line. Shift into 2 wheel...

Problem Solved!! There is a bunch of wires which run from the engine compartment to the passenger wheel well area (you have to rip off the plastic wheel well covering to get to it, I lost mine off roading last year) In that group of wires I found one that is intact, but has the insulation burned off(yellow), and one beside it (red) which is burned through and now in 2 parts. I'm not sure what the yellow wire is for, but it seems that the...

Your car's heater core is leaking. The heater uses the coolant temp to heat the core and therby the air flow.
You need to replace the heater core. Repair is expensive;if you cant afford it or need a temp solution just bypass the heater core hoses at the rear side of the engine. Will sole the probelm but your heater will not work bcos there is no coolant circulation in your heater system....

If ok, auto parts warehouse 161.00 a pair, free shipping with in the states extra on out of country delieverys. They are very easy to change and work well.

Welcome to the KIA forums . Check that all of the cars earths are clean and tight. Bad earths can cause all sorts of gremlins to appear in the electrics. I'm having the same problem with the wife's 1998 Sportage. The drivers side has vacuum but the passenger side doesn't. Every winter something seems to happen to the four wheel drive on this thing. Hopefully someone will have some answers for us.

Welcome to the KIA forums. As long as the battery is ok, it might be a poor contact causing your problem, remove and clean the starter cables at the starter and also the main earth cable to the body. You could also have someone start the car and check that the starter solenoid is getting full voltage with a multimeter. If this doesn't help most likely the starter solenoid on the starter ...

Welcome to the forum.
It sounds like a sticky Idle Speed Control (ISC) valve, which can usually be corrected by taking it off and cleaning it with Carb Cleaner.

Oil filter or fuel filter? You've mentioned both.
Have you tried the 'old Italian tune-up? Take it out and just rev it up really hard and drive it fast for a new minutes?
Also, it may also be the classic "oil on the spark plug." This seems to happen a lot with these sportages. The cure is a new valve cover gasket. Totally within reach of being done by a novice.

Eratic Idle '95 OBD I
So i have a '95 5spd and it has been giving me an Eratic idle problem for a while now. At first i thought i had a vacuum leak because of how it sounded, then i figured that my ps bearing is going, making a slight squeal like a vacuum leak. (interesting part is when i sprayed carb cleaner at the base of the intake ...
