Exactly as Peter says, speed is only a part of iai, much more important is timing. You'll learn that as you continue your training. The judgment is simply on which competitor performed the best set of kata. The difficult part is often trying to decide what defines "better" but that's the judge's problem. Kim.

I like the fact the menuki are handachi (to fill your palm). I have a shinken with that and it REALLY feels secure and comfortable. The price seems high for zinc/alloy, but you do get what you pay for (generally). Tozando Shop has it on sale on right now , maybe they would match the price?

Hmm, nice, and decent prices. One of my karate sensei is looking for a new sword. Something small and light, being a relitively petite woman. I will have to have her give the place a look. Though I'm not sure if she wants iaito, or shinken

2 people, side by side performing several kata. Three judges watching from the front decide which is the best and award them a win.
As simple as that, it's usually a side by side comparison, not quite the same as for a gymnastics competition or similar where you compete singly and are judged toward a standard, but similar.

I get my female students to buy the one above it....nice light weight for them... quality not a lot different from any other japanese iaito. One of the ones you refer to has also just arrived at my dojo. Nice beginners sword, not too heavy, so you can practise for longer.... (which is always a good thing in my book...)

I'd recommend getting whichever is cheaper and saving the money for when you feel that you'd like an iaito. Although you'll still use a bokken, you're unlikely to care too much what the saya is like, and if you do you can always get one later when you're more likely to have an idea of what you'll be using it for.

Marcos,
The ZNIR toho set weren't really created as such. They are just modified versions of kata taken from 5 different koryu. Seems I heard a rumor that the Komei Jyuku has 7 kata in their Toho set which share 5 from the ZNIR set. Perhaps it's the extra 2 that Sekiguchi-sensei added? Is Sekiguchi-sensei old enough to have been involved in the creation of the ZNIR toho set? I'm not ...

Perhaps I'm just a purist, or perhaps I'd hate to see more of the Japanese craftsmen who make their living from making these time-consuming quality items go out of business as customers move yet MORE business to China where quality control may be questionable.
At the risk of being unpopular, the entire reason iaito were invented is so that ...

Awesome!
Question: When practicing Iaido do Saya's wear out fast from practice? ( assuming I buy a decently made Iaito ? ) Or can I expect to not have to replace my saya for awhile?
