In any kind of stance, zanshin needs to clearly demonstrate that your attacking spirit (for lack of a better English word at present) is ready and on the go even after the motion is completed. The physical manifestations of zanshin are often subjective on a case by case basis.

Another important tip from the Musashi-Kai report is that a solid Nito stance has essentially no openings. So, why are Shinken used in Iaito, instead of non-"live" Iaito? I would assume that it would be a similar purpose/reason?

2000, I think? You can get it direct from FIK here or from e-bogu there . Cheaper from FIK but the shipping might be an issue.
