Thank you all, for your help. Samshin Kumdo has moved, it is now on the 10/F inside a business building, about 200M to the right of it's old address. I was there early Oct. David

Just because your rental agreement does not state anything about black mould under your carpet does not mean there is nothing you can do about it. Here in Canada we have the 'Office of the Rentalsman' that is supposed to be a type of watch-dog agency. There may be some such agency where you live. I like the gi on the 5000 set, I own a similar one from a different company and it fades nicely. However, it takes forever to dry. It's warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. The hakama I'd get a different one, but I perfer the 100% cotton one I got, but you'll have to keep up on the ironing and proper care with it. You'll turn smurfy for a while. :-)

Kendo/Kumdo equipment shop in Seoul
Published (2009-11-09 17:58:00)
Most of these places close at around 19:00. A few places are open till 21 when they are running behind. If you already know what you need, you could always order and then have delivered to your hotel. The delivery fee in Seoul will be about 10 or 20 USD even if you have a complete bogu delivered. If you want to see the store, you could always email/call and set an appointment. HTH cesare

I recommend the cheapest one you can get. After all, you hardly know if you stick with Kendo at this point.

These are great information, does anyone know what time they close? I will be visiting Seoul on travel tour and I believe I only have free and easy time during late at night. Sometime after 10pm, do they open till midnight?

Have you thought about emailing one of the many online suppliers/manufacturers, like e- bogu and the like? They might be able to offer a lot more help than we could.

Samshin Kumdo is good, and extremely easy to find. Take the subway to Dongdaemun Stadium, get out at exit 3, and it's right in your line of sight diagonally across the street (assuming you can read Korean).

It would be good to get someone who knows what they're doing to measure you, whether it's some guy at a shop or your sensei.
Kyoto and Tokyo are a fair distance apart -- I don't know how flexible your plans are, but you shouldn't plan on being able to shuttle back and forth between the two to compare.
The first shop that comes to mind for me is in Kyoto: Tozando. They have an online ...

The best thing to use would be bleach, but that's obviously not an option. Mold is pretty simple to kill, for bogu I'd recommend tea tree oil or surgical alcohol, or vinegar as a last resort. I'd also look at getting your floor steam cleaned, if your house is doing that to your equipment I dread to think what it's doing to your lungs.

Is there a fast way of fitting into a new pair kote? Like dipping it in oil before going to practice or something? What works? I am absolutely sure my new new pair will be tight next week and my confidence level will drop from not being able to hold my shinai flexibly enough. It took me 4 months to get into my first pair.

I do that variant. I just make sure it is neatly tucked under my himo. Remember, the ties on the ends should come around to the front, so there isn't a lot "hanging out" in the back.
