wires next to the alternater and...
Published (2009-11-06 21:24:00)
The wires are broke right off. The neutral light in on when in neutral, so I asume that is working. I think the kickstand switch also works. I have a book with a wireing diagram, but I can not seem to find those color wires together. The two hots have to be important. One could maybe be an accessory wire. I had a 90 Ninja 600R and it had a hot accessory wire, but it was near the side plastic on the other side. I dont remember what color it was.

The only things I can think of in that area that would have wires would be the neutral switch and the kickstand switch. You really need a wiring diagram or to find the other matching ends of those wires.

Thanks. I love to ride this bike. It was like the devil. Only wanted to be driven fast and aggressive. Really the way it is supposed to be ridden. But not on the street though. Plans were to ride it often, but as time went by I did not want anything to happen to it hence it being stored. I do look at it all the time though, which is good enough for me.

For 2-up comfort on a budget, I doubt you can beat the old zx-11's. Besides, they're still Sweeeeet, even by today's standards.

If the motor shuts off and the Ignition switch is still on then the Fi & Oil light will be on.
What happens if you try starting it back up again ??

I would recommend getting a factory service manual. There are two for our bike. A "generic" ( 85-90 EN400/EN450) and a "specific" (1994-2009 Ninja 500/GPZ500S). Look first in the specific and it frequently refers to the generic for stuff that has not changed.
The most I have gotten into mine is adjusting the valves.

I predict an engine that is too big to fit and even if it could fit, I
predict frame breakage.

I think rather than pour money into a 500, most people just upgrade to a more powerful bike.
Even with the 12 and 14, when you stroke the engine, your power goes up, but your reliability goes down as you're really stressing the internals.
Selling the 500 and adding the money it would cost for the extensive engine work would probably more than pay for a good 600.

It is what it is. I would just do online traffic school and pay the fine.
What was the posted speed limit? And is that 88.08 MPH?

Don't know about your particular model, but other than having to remove any
body plastics, it's pretty simple. Disconnect the lines then remove 2-4
mounting bolts to get the cooler off. Be careful not to lose any o-rings
when you disconnect the lines if yours has them.

Sounds like your battery is the problem. Check voltage across terminals on battery with voltmeter. If less than 12.8 V, recharge battery. Then check again.

That is a very nice looking bike. Where did you get your seat done? I would like mine done like that. Was it originally a two peice? Also what are you asking for it? My buddy is looking for a bike.
