Windows rife with trojans / virii
Published (2009-11-12 01:50:00)
hello you have a file infector, which seems to be a variant undetected via signatures - therefor there's no disinfection algorithm. when you quarantine a file you remove it from the disk, and by doing that with windows critical components, you impede boot. if you don't want to wipe and reinstall (which would be best), you need to send a couple of the heuristically detected files to the lab so they can add a disinfection routine:...

No reason I can think of. If you mean errors on Kaspersky, uninstall it (only save application data, remove everything else), restart, install Kaspersky, update and restart. If you mean other errors (not on Kaspersky), post a screenshot of it.

One last question: Do you think this is the end of my computer as far as trying to get security programs on it? Will I have to get new one, or is this a problem you think can be fixed? I even called the computer's manufacturer tech support and even they couldn't help solve this problem. =(

The problem seems to be solved as far as I can see!! Kaspersky's working fine after the uninstall and reinstall. I ran Combofix once more. It still didn't detect that I've installed the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. I've attached the report. I'm connected to the internet from the system I've been fixing with your help. Seems to be working fine, no exe's or trojan's so far. After I...

QUOTE(richbuff @ 2.11.2009 23:57) 1) So far, no posting of screenshot of Detected > Active threats. Probably is empty, because it was blocked. If there is nothing in Active Threats, it was blocked. If it was blocked, there will be nothing in Active Threats. 2) False positive? Send links to the Lab, instructions are located in the third important topic located near the top of the Virus section of this forum. And here:...

I had similar issues when updating my KIS however I have 2 different licences, 1 from UK and from from North AMERICA. My isue was with my UK laptop, so I uninstalled KIS (orginally from UK but updated from US website), went to UK website, downloaded updated KIS and it seems fine now. Coincidence?

Welcome. You can enable all threat categories in Settings > Threats and exclusions > threats > settings > enable all three categories in Potentially unwanted software >ok>ok. Then scan again. If you are not having any signs and symptoms of infection, you should be all good. If you are not sure, then you can attach the avz sysinfo.zip, instructions, see: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index....

Hey, thanks for the response! Firstly, when I reinstalled the OS, I installed over the previous one, i.e. I formatted only my C drive during installation, not the other partitions. A few files weren't copied from the CD during installation, and I retrieved those files from another computer with the same OS and placed them in the correct directories/destination paths. As of today, four ...
