I'd strongly recommend getting the newwest one you can afford. Having done a zillion km and had pretty much every series Commodore except VZ I have a lot of experience in the matter. First up, there are no huge problems with the VT. They were very good straight off the bat and have proven reliable ever since. The only issue that some (some are worse than others) experience is excessive rear tyre wear. That can be minimised by fitting a...

GME are a good brand. Our trucks at work all have uhf's and I reckon GME are the go. Have got one in my VY, it's a GME TX3220. Paid $320. Uniden are a pretty good brand also.
I mounted my antenna on the side of the boot because there was a phone antenna on there when I bought the car, I used this existing bracket. The antenna itself I got off a mate for nothing, it's 30cm and great for what I ...

Not to shabby about the other questions, but you would definitely notice the difference. My brother (Dirbatua) re-did his brake system on his VR Calais and apparently it made a huge difference.
I believe it would be do-able with at home basic tools, but I would think it depends on what exactly you're changing, people correct me if I'm wrong.

PARKING SENSORS. If you see a Commo/Falcon with parking sensors, check the model of the car. If it's an executive, it's most likely a cop car. I then proceed to check for lights, antenna's, etc.
That's always my first sign.
Although, I'm just waiting for the million and one responses saying "you shouldn't be looking for cop cars, your attention should be on the road and following the ...
