Rear Naked Choke?

QUOTE(bythesea @ Mar 1 2010, 09:49 PM) Yeah, and a lot of it has to do with the attitudes of the local population. So for example, for me, growing up the in the Pacific Northwest with a heavy 'Western' bent, and TONS of hunting and fishing, when people see guns, they don't assume 'crime'. They assume 'sporting'. When I was a kid, you could still buy a .22 at Fred Meyer right next to the...

QUOTE(Ben Reinhardt @ Mar 1 2010, 12:48 PM) Depends on the state. In Idaho, you can carry a firearm openly on your person without a special permit. Concealed carry requires a concealed carry permit, issued by the sheriff of the county in which you apply for it. Requires criminal background check, and a few hours of firearm safety training. In Louisiana, you can carry a loaded firearm in your vehicle, can be concealed or...

Rear Naked Choke?

Well, when I was a freshman at the University of Arizona, a concealed weapons carrier shot and killed three nursing professors before sparing a class full of nursing students (apparently he changed his mind about shooting the whole class), ordering them out, and committing suicide. I'm not against concealed weapons, and maybe every doctor, nurse, professor, and student should carry one (there are no weapons allowed on campus), and this...

QUOTE(JohnGrove @ Mar 10 2010, 04:23 AM) Yea, I guess your right. Pretty boring I know. Much more fun to talk about whooping arse, snapping arms and choking out muggers and assailants, but unfortunately at some point the cold, hard arm of the law is going to come crashing through all the talk and give everyone a reality slap, which could end up with people in jail/ with serious convictions that jeopardise career prospects....

Rear Naked Choke?

Nothing is attempted murder until you open your mouth and blurt out to the police officers that you were trying to kill someone. Lesson for the unwise (at least in the US) You have an awesome, unalienable freedom called "the right to remain silent" If you get into a fight with someone, RNC to the point of unconsciousness, and then you get arrested, feel free to exercise that right, preferably as soon as the cops try to talk...

Applying a RNC is not attempted murder, unless you are attempting to murder that person. You can apply reasonable force to any situation in self defence, to isolate a RNC is what a lawyer would do in a case before a court. As martial artists we do have dangerous techniques but if restraint is used in applying one and a situation warrants one it will be deemed self defence not attempted murder IMO. One example,I know a girl at the dojo I help...

In my opinion the fight in this video is textbook self-defense as judoka or bjj practitioner. WARNING: the following video contains violent images http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68Y8x6QKZzs

I have a question regarding the application of the Rear Naked Choke... I've heard on some JuJitsu websites that the application of a RNC on an attacker can be classified as Attempted Murder and my question is... How do you define attempted murder in the context where a RNC is being applied? How does one go about defining multiple strikes to a persons head as being attempted murder? What if ...

A friend was driving to work last week and approaching a roundabout was forced to take evasive action because an out of control "hot hatch" swerved in front of him at a roundabout. My friend made a gesture of exasperation which was picked up on by the idiot driver who slammed his brakes on and blocked the road. He got out of his car and started shouting threateningly at my mate (who looks ...

I have done judo for 13 years and it is awesome. However, after I saw one of my best friends and judo partners get knocked out cold in a fight, I started to question the effectiveness of judo in a street fight. He is a black belt and very successful in competitions - much better judoka than me. And don't for a second assume our school is low class - we have one of the best judo schools in...

I have to start with my background. I am 17, and have been in Martial-Arts for 11 years. My favorite is Judo where I am a Nikyu, and my main fallback is Muay Thai. I hate Ne-Waza; there is no fun in it. I am in martial-arts for the fun, and the tradition, to me, is fun. I also have black-belt in Kuk-Sool-Won, which may or may not be a McDojo belt, and I train extensively in Small Circle ...
