Backlinks are links from another website to your website, no more, no less. The NON-SEF urls will be removed automatically over time if you have a good redirect (301) from the old urls to the new ones in place.

If you want to enable SEO settings, review the following documents and set the SEO settings accordingly. You may have to type your site URL in the variable $live_site in the file configuration.php or use the .htaccess file. http://www.scribd.com/doc/2300167/Joomla-v-15-Configure-and-troubleshoot-SEF-URLs http://docs.joomla.org/SEF_URLs_in_Joomla!_1.5 http://docs.joomla.org/SEF...

I don't believe on site optimization is enough anymore. Depending on your keywords your competitors are going to have the exact same on page ideas as well as older domains. You need to build links to your site using clickable links for the keywords that you are targeting. Really, with Google this is the only way to move up in the rankings these days and Yahoo/Bing are moving in that direction as well!

Thanks for these tips imanickam, I did that uncommenting of (RewriteBase) in the htaccess.txt file. THEN I went into global configuration and Selected the YES radio button for SEF URLS and Use Apache mod_rewrite. I selected NO to add suffix. I went to check the site and I still got those errors. Am I doing something I shouldn't be ? Do you have to do a step before the other ? No matter what I do, when I select those radio buttons in...

I know this is not a very well know thing with Joomla developers, but why the hell not? It's an essential part of SEO and nowhere is there an option to add a nofollow attribute to the menu links in Joomla admin. Hopefully someone in this forum can answer the question. Or better still, advise people on how to add no follow links to the menu items. Best, Wesley

The meta tags generated by Joomla are called in the index.php file with the following code: <jdoc:include type="head" /> The data for this jdoc is in the Db. So, you would need to HACK some of Joomla's core code to add your additional "classification" tag. If I am not mistaken, it does not matter where your "classification" tag is placed within the <head> tag. So I don't understand your ...

the links are going to the article list page, not the article themselves. Therefor the "Little Fighter Arena - Guides" is the name of the page which shows the list of articles available. If you link them to the article themselves this will change it from my understanding.

Below is a quick list of what I say when I viewed your website, I hope it helps you! - Multiple <h1> tags. Limit it to only one <h1> tag - Enormous list of <meta keywords="">, Google has announced recently it fully ignores this tag for now ( http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot. ... a-tag.html ) and other search engines appear to ignore it as well. I'd suggest to remove the entire keywords ...

Your best bet is going to build backlinks in Russian language sites and forums. In my experience those types of links are more valuable then anything in english. Best of luck!

Hi, I've just recently worked this out myself. If I understand you correctly you're wanting to have a different page title for each article. You can do this by going into the Menu Item Manager and selecting the Menu Item that links to the article you want a title for, then select System Parameters and you'll find a box for Page Title. Entering a different title in that box for each Menu Item ...

You don't need to use sh404SEF to remove the index.php. You just have to turn on "Use mod_rewrite" within your Joomla global config and rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess Even if you still want to use sh404SEF still do the above. You'll need to change the setting within sh404SEF to "Use .htaccess" too

try the second option mentied below, as that worked for me although i now have a further issue of missing images: - in the template, using relative links instead of absolute - or your webserver requires that Joomla variable $live_site be set in your joomla configuration.php file Where $live_site 'www.yoursitename'

Make sure you also have "Use mod_rewrite" turned on within the Joomla global config. Also rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess

Perhaps these articles haven't been crawled for a while and are still displaying the description tags they once had? If you are sure each article has its own unique description tag, with time they will displace those in the engines.
