The K&N contributed nothing to the difference you noted. That is because the paper filter that used to be in there was more than capable of providing all of the air the 4.0L is capable of consuming at redline and wide-open throttle. The TJ's air intake system, unlike many other vehicles, is not restrictive... not in the least. Many other air intakes are, like on the Mustang 5.0L engine, but the TJ's is not. It was purposely...

Actually Gary, its not just Jeeps with drums, its any vehicle with drums. Here's what happens, the self adjusters get clogged with brake dust and anything else that can get in there, or they rust into place. If they rust into place its obvious they need to be replaced, BUT if all they are is clogged up with gook, cleaning them is enough, I use white lithium grease in ever self adjuster I fix, and I have found that grease keeps out more,...

I think some of the claims of the deafening ride are exaggerated (unless on mudders or other certain circumstances). I've had 3 Wranglers, all configured differently from basic soft top, to hard top, to sailcloth, and from street tires, to AT's, to mudders. None were that obnoxious. Either some of the claims are exaggerated or simply made in comparison to a Camry, or maybe I've just lost my hearing from spending so much time in...

Welcome.. we don't flame here, so put the suit away.
Now a few things.. you mention you had the timing belt replaced? By chance do you mean serpentine belt? The 4.0L has a timing chain usually good till the jeep rusts away.
As for your stalling, few things come to mind...none of which may be an issue: TPS sensor (...

How much do they want for it ? I built one using s cheap 120v winch from harbor frt. 1.75 tube with a 90 degree bend so I can swing my top over shelf in my garage. the winch was under $ 100, the tube I had and the rope I made the sling out of was like 10 bucks and I still have about forty ft left. May sound hokey, but it works ...

My oil sending unit went out on my out of the driveway recently. If there are no noises in the engine then replace the sender. Simple job and not very expensive. If there are noises (valve tap/knocking) your may have an oil pump problem.

At first sight, i can tell the fenders are changed (bushwacker fenders). The guy also changed his front bumper and rear bumper, put a lot (i think too much, but if you like it ) of chrome accessories and i guess the tires are not stock but bigger (aftermarket rims also), so there could be a suspension or body lift. he also ...

Herculine the interior. Under $100 and will keep you busy for 2 days, and will let you run carpetless in the summer, taking some of the anxiety away from being topless in the 'chance of showers' days.

If you're still running conventional plugs, like the factory installs, odds are they are close to needing replacement. What year TJ do you have? Is it old enough to have a distributor or is it a newer distributorless engine?

a pro: easy way to clear taller tires and get a little more flex when you're off roading.
a con: 4" puts your tub up pretty high. there are 11 bolts that are keeping your tub connected to the frame. the longer those bolts are from the tub and frame, the more stress they're gonna withstand and after some extreme pressure they...

So I purchased the RR Heavy Duty Tie Rod w/ Tie Rod ends. I ordered it from 4wd.com, hopefully we dont run into any issues. I did some research and looked in to some reviews and for the price you really cannot beat it. I dont offroad all the time so it wont see a ton of abuse, but I will put it through its paces.
