Parts cost more than for a YJ. But it needs fewer farkles to be as capable on the trails... Read through the sites. My JK has been relatively trouble-free and I have no complaints.

Pulling a Boat
Published (2009-12-25 16:06:00)
The OP was looking for advice that includes pulling a load close to the limit for a 2 door. The jeep is new and the advice was for that situation. I pull near the load limit, I'm careful with it while doing it. The jeep handles it well. Would I have selected a jeep for pulling heavy loads? Maybe not but a jeep is what I have. It works well pulling the load. To the OP, I would say that I tow with confidence. The jeep does well for what it...

Hi JeepNDad ...I'm having all my work done at Adrenaline Offroad in Burtonsville, MD. I've got about 2 more days to brood over what to have done. 4.56 and 33s 4.88 and 35s ...and most important, how much can I afford to get done in round 1? Total is: Gears, lockers 3.5" RE life Wheels, tires

Air filter
Published (2009-12-26 14:31:00)
Another bad reason from what I understand: Cold air intakes and performance exhaust increase HP by helping the engine breathe but lower torque which is essential to trucks. So unless you just drive around on paved roads and like to go fast - stay away.

iphonr mount/location?
Published (2009-12-21 02:01:00)
Hey all, Just wondering how some of you have mounted your iphones? I know it's not really a big deal, just lay it in the passenger seat or some such, but as Type A/OCD that I am I need someplace where it's "just right" and ideally symmetrical. Anyone else here "like me" come up with any good options? Thanks David

I actually was in the same boat as you were and I went with a 6" lift and the 35's and 3:21 gears and I am still doing it until I can afford to put in 4:88s. Its been about a year and probably will be another 6 months or so until I can save up the cash to put in 4:88s.
While it doesn't suck the life out of the V6, it does slow it down a bit. Freeway driving and city driving is fine, but my ...

^ ok i just realized you said cherokee. this is a wrangler forum you will need to find a cherokee forum if that is really what you need help with. if you meant a wrangler then read on
for sure go with the lsd. the tc is ok and helps at times but it is in no way a good substitute for a lsd. if its an x with the "sport" package or a sahara then it most likely has the lsd if it is just a basic x...

I'd like to wash it SOMETIME!
It's winter in New England, and my 08 unlimited X with soft top is very salty and sandy. I don't have a heated garage to wash it myself...How do you all clean it in the winter? I'm most concerned about the soft top/plastic windows, and don't really like the idea of taking it through a carwash...or is it ok to do that?

2 or 4 door?? 2 door is only rated to tow 2000 lbs. You must add the weight of the trailer, fuel, gear ect to get total weight of what you are towing. If you are over weight and get in an accident, insurance will NOT cover you... something to think about

Always use the lowest octane you can without engine pinging. ( detonation)
There is no performance gain when you run higher than recommended octane and possibly a reduction.

If you spend more than $200 for the hitch, install, and all related wiring, you spent too much.
I have a Rugged Ridge hitch; took about 15 minutes to bolt on. Prices vary from site to site but I think you can get them for about $60.
