Had some time today to try another test, this time 2 wheels on the same side of the vehicle up in the air. First Video is in the AWD non locked 4x4 mode with the gear shift in D As you can see the BLD did not kick in. Had i given it more throttle it should have kicked in, but I didn't want to fall off the jacks. I did the same thing in the 4x4 locked mode with the gear shift in D Exact same outcome as the above video, BLD did not kick in....

From what I have read, the FDI does have BLD programming, but it must not be as aggressive as the FDII. Seems to be a software/firmware option - no additional hardware required. The CVT seems to be key to the equation.

Now THAT was some useful information! Thank you, Barry. I find it interesting to learn that all the hardware incorporated into the BLD system is already on the base vehicle. It sounds like it's only a software and wiring difference. If this is indeed true, then it would seem to be possible to install the system on an FDI. I wonder if they have the same computer? If you could re-program the BLD calibrations into the system on the FDI, and...

Does the car have cruise control? Some of what you describe sounds like the throttle response is not right.

I was on the beach yesterday and saw a Patriot axle deep in the sand. As usual folks were helping to get it moving. I was concerned because a wrangler was about to tow the Patriot. Since it was not an FDII and had no added tow hooks they wrapped the tow strap around something in the front end. Hmmm, safe or not? I talked to the driver and he did not want to use a rear end tow (he had a ...

Leave that up to the professionals. From other discussions about this, the process is not just a matter of pulling a dipstick and seeing if it is in the range.

A 2nd trip to the dealership.....and they still can't find the freaking problem. GRRRR!!!!! I'm getting so frustrated. A 6 month old vehicle should NOT be popping out of gear while being driven!!! I told the service manager I'd be back again and again and again until they find the problem.
