Ya know, I'd probably just toss a DiMarzio Fast Track II in the bridge (it's a single coil sized humbucker that simply replaces what's there now). It's a 16K ceramic-magnet pickup. Honker. Metal.

Amp only

OK quick review of what i learned about amp switching if anyone's interested. The ground loop you make when hooking two amps together causes hum. This warning was even on the back of the Morley unit's package i looked at today. The pedals cause a pop when you switch channels. Can't have that. The ART coolswitch is around $69, the Morley is $110 or less and this one.... http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/p...tch?sku=620003 is...

Keep the Twin, save money to buy. That's my vote. I had the same thing hit me last month like you when you said the "...clouds parted and some metaphysical force just granted me the gift of tone." I played a Strat through a Vox AC30 and the sky frickin opened. But, I kept my Fender Twin for all the beautiful tones it still gives me.

well you have two things to check, pickups and amp/pedal.
some tones become muddy because of the pickup can't handle the gain of distortion. my main axe has a lace sensor red pickup and works great.
I get that tight low end and no muddyness.
now for the amp/pedal... thinking both have gain volume bass mid treble.
put the gain to about 3 o clock and the volume to a respectable level (no ...

the treble bleed mod works great. My G&L comes stock with it. It actually isnt just a problem with single coils, it's more the volume pot itself. Your LP has 500k pots which helps make it less noticeable.
Klein pickups makes a treble bleed kit for $5 with the parts soldered together already all you need to do is solder the two leads to the pot lugs

i played with one at the local GC and would suggest going with either the PODxt or POdx3. i felt the tones ,while pretty decent werent as good as those found in the two i suggested.
I use the PODxt in both live situations and for recording and IMO you wont find anything easier or more versatile

the epi dot is fantastic. not even just for the price, its a very solid guitar. since its epiphone the pups wont be on par with legit Gibson pups, maybe a bit muddier and a little less punch and a little cooler. you can replace them if you want without too much trouble but for now i wouldn't worry about it. for blues you probably don't want pickups which are too hot anyway, but get used to the ...

My two main axes. I also have a Washburn D10B acoustic, and I have an N1 on the way in (cheap find on ebay). The strat is a Mexican I got from the 'rents for xmas years ago. All rewired the way I likes. The LP copy is a Samick with Duncan pups (JB in the bridge, '59er in the neck. Sounds GREAT!!)
No amps, since I am just getting back into playing after years of not playing. I had...

The Tubescreamer is an excellent circuit, if for no other reason that it is easy to modify, and can be made to sound nothing like a tubescreamer, ha ha. It's hard to beat when used to boost an already overdriven signal, though. For a typical tubescreamer, I like to run the level all the way up, and the gain all the way down, and the tone to taste. This adds a bit more punch, and the tone ...
