that message is not definitive, unfortuntly. Besides this, what errors related
to exchange or smtp are in the event logs?
Are there only messages orginating on your network in the outbound queue,
or are there hundreds/thousands that orginated somewhere else?
Have you turned up logging on the exchage in Echange Server Manager?

Even with SP2 installed (which you really should have) 18 GB should be
adequate. Have you moved all data folders to another partition following the
MS white paper

flakey and you want to install SBS 200x on new hardware? Is that correct?
As you have indecated you can order new SBS and downgrade, and as others
have said there is no issue installing SBS 2003 on 64 bit hardware.
Unless the existing SBS is OEM, you can simply install it on the new hardware....

Regardless of single or dual nic SBS setups, leave the SBS as the DHCP server.
If the SBS is off line for more that a short while, you can initiate the
DHCP on any capable device until you restore the SBS.
SBS DHCP passes out more than the gateway and the IP for the LAN.

I'd check the event log for clues. One thing that might trigger this is if
some permissions changed denying access to some or all of the profile
directory.

Installed Windows server 2008 std server that came with sbs 2008 premium.
I joined the sbs2008 domain.
Installed Sql Server 2008 and it says:
