A Prius owner touched her cruise control's resume function, then her car accelerated out of control. She had her foot on the brakes, but the brakes heated up and caught fire. This was like the situation in which the California Highway Patrol officer and family of four were killed. I'd say watch the throttle-by-wire and cruise control. German cars cut throttle when brakes are pressed. Every other manufacturer should do the same....

My mechanic is familiar with this problem and told me to just live with it rather than fix it. In his opinion, it ain't worth the trouble. This is very typical of valve stem seal wear. Often you see the puff...

This claim that some Toyotas and Lexuses go into wild and uncontrollable acceleration has been troubling everybody. I have an Avalon and a new Solara convertible and have never had any issues at all. An online tech manual says that the Avalon brakes can be bled using a normal bleed procedure of RR, LR, RF, LF. I be using either gravity bleed or a hose w/check valve. The manual does not give info if I still get a soft pedal is there a way to bleed the ABS actuator? I did the first bleed on the RR and found the bleeder screws are leaking around the threads when I open them about 1/8 to 1/4. Can grease be applied at the threads to seal...

Hello to anyone left here - NOT TO SPAMMERS THOUGH! I have a 98 Camry with 126000 miles and today when I started it, I noticed a puff of blue smoke came out of the tailpipe. I know it's oil smoke but is there anything I can do avoid problems - different oil, additives, whatever. I use standard 10W30 oil and change it every 3000 religiously, just had the timing belt replaced last month, had it checked for sludge - which the mechanic says...

red coolant in Toyotas
Published (2009-11-01 11:20:00)
I was wondering if there was any reason I cannot use the standard green coolant in a 2000 Toyota Camry. The coolant in the car now is red. However it is not available at auto parts stores. Can I use Dex Cool (orange coolant) in place of what is currently in the car? I'd like to know how the red coolant is different from either the green coolant or the orange (Dex Cool) coolant. Thanks.

constant pressure, speedometer will slowly lose speed.
What could cause this?
Alot of things can cause it, mine was a bad transmission.

Had the car looked at, turns out it is in fact the universal joint
that connects the upper part of the steering column to the steering
system in car. Its about a 400 dollar fix, but a lot cheaper, with
less headaches, then having an accident I guess!
