Benefits of high reps for strength.

Benefits of high reps for strength. For lower body at the momment 15 reps seem to offer less pain and just in general feel better on my knee than the their lower rep counter parts, I am not sure why. So is there any benafit to doing these higher reps for strength. Do to my diet there is no way I am going to go gain size. Calories are way to low for that as I diet. __________________ he is like the younger alternative lifestyle Sofa George!!!!!

If the heavier weights and lower reps are killing your knees, then do the higher reps.My form breaks down quickly on high rep sets of squats, and my knees end up aching, but thats me.Do what you have to do to get the work in,without tearing yourself down too much...you want to be able to walk when you are older lol.

Greetings All: I think I have an interesting topic for discussion here. For the last 5 years or so I haven't been progressing all that well. I think one of main factors has been my life long love of overtraining. To get things going again, I tried this crazy finnish deadlift program which didn't pan out like it was suppossed to. I did this for about 12 weeks. I didn't do any events while on the program. Now the new year...

If you're doing 5/3/1, fitting SM event training into the scheme isn't too hard. That's another reason I'm a fan of the protocol. You can do 2 major gym days and 1 event day. If you want to do all 4 lifts in one week you can do something like: Day 1: Deadlift and Bench Day 2: Squat and Military Press Day 3: Events There are a thousand other variations out there. But I don't see any reason why you can't train...

What is really nothing for one person could destroy another person or the same person depending on recovery. Only you can know if you are overtraining Cheese. Personally I never really thought you were doing so much that you shouldn't be able to recover fine from it. At one point, for example, I did over 100 reps on dead with 600 or more lbs in about a 1.5 month time span. This was while also squatting and doing heavy events. It was also...

It won't hinder anything. As long as your form is strict you should be
fine. I can pull as much without a belt as I can with a belt, the only real
reason I wear one is because my lower back doesn't get so worn out and I
can do deads again a lot sooner.

I hit PRs on the squat and total at the APF Texas Cup on Saturday. The
total and squat were Masters 40-44 Texas records. The old state records
were 705lbs on the squat and 1850lbs for the total.
848.7lbs squat
2005.6lbs total

To steal/paraphrase a great quote:
There is no such thing as overtraining, only under-recovery.
My theory is this - If I am not having fun, what am I doing this for. Even if I make it to Pro strongman level, it is not going to be a career for me or most of the rest of us. I love to punish myself under the bar frequently as well and find that pretty darn beat up is status ...

Haven't been on here for a while, but I'd like to get back into the habit of reading this board.
Anyways, I just put together a new edition of Beineke Strength & Conditioning Journal that features a max effort lower body workout and a dynamic effort lower body workout. The clients are from my adult football training group.
Take a look here:

Foam rolling and stretching books
any recommendations. I HATE pavels stuff. I own them and am not a fan. I need more recommendations.

Regular stretching (maybe some yoga), foam rolling, and staying hydrated are probably the best options. No real "products" to speak of, maybe except for a foam roller. Add to that, proper pre-workout warmups and you can prevent a lot of injuries.
You're never going to avoid all injuries if you weight train heavily. They're going to happen with all the wear and tear.
