Ok I see that sarcoplasmic hypertrophy will disappear again fast but what about myofibillar? Does that stick around even if you train higher reps?

Thanks for this article IA. It was really interesting to read about the time you trained with Mike Mentzer. I think it would be great if you posted a follow-up. More of a detailed pseudo-bbing biography of sorts: Who you have met, who you have trained, what you have learned - all the funny, sad, and weird stories.

If you switched to something like the Simple Power Based Routine immediately after 4 to 6 weeks of this type of training would you be able to keep the 10 to 15 pounds you had gained?

Excellent article. I love Rip's stuff. Best thing that ever happened to my training. If every newbie was to listen to him and do their squats rather than read Flex then I'm sure teens would have a 25152% higher success rate.

Thanks for that - finally something that sort of agrees with what a friend was telling me. I recently started weight training again, and a pal said that I was dong too many sets, and that I should do a HIT routine. Now, I read about HIT, and it all made good sense. But then someone said HIT was not good for beginners, so I read some more. I then found references to the sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar hypertrophy types, and from what I read it...

Ok we know that volume work is best done once you have good strength and conditioning levels. But how do you progress on a volume routine? do you add weight? reps? I mean as IA said where do you go from 20 sets a body part?

Than of course I saw Frank Zane take the 78 Olympia and he really had it all. More muscle than Steve, super symmetry, and just an almost perfect physique that was more believable than my other hero Arnold.
