Aiming, well described with the obvious price outcome of a knife cutting through butter. Why buy here? Why not buy after the financing? If the deal is delayed or will take longer than anticipated, what is the big loss of buying in at these prices? especially when you'll get it cheaper after the PIPE or financing vehicle being designed. Even better, if you bet on a reverse split not that long from here, why not wait ti buy? If a deal is...

Neuro, OT - Looking further at the dosing in the TC-5214 Phase 2b, they escalated from 2 to 8 mg at the investigator's discretion, based on the patient's response. This is the same dose range of mecamylamine used for anti-smoking studies, and at this 2-8 mg dose range they didn't have the side effects previously seen with mecamylamine when it was used as a hypertensive years ago (hypertension dose was way up in the 30-90 mg...

OT: Targacept
Published (2009-11-08 18:15:09)
OT: Targacept TC-5214 is the enantiomer of a very old antihypertensive, mecamylamine. And not a class of drugs under much development now. The mecamylamine structural basis gives some reassurance that they won't have a side effect surprise (although fluoxetine shows that is not always the case), and with one Phase IIb done, this could be a rapid timeline. The India sites will make some BP's nervous, they might want to do another...

What blows me away is with the mountains of evidence pre-clinical and clinical we have as to the effect these drugs have on multiple conditions and likelihood of some success, they can't get anyone, Chinese, Japanese, European, US.....someone....anyone...yet,.... to partner. In the largest dearth of effective new products and largest revenue shortfall due to patents expiring in !!!the History!!!! of their chosen field-billions and...

> > What keeps getting missed in this PIPE scenario is the fact that any large dilution would risk someone taking control of the company. This hasn't been missed, since it's been raised repeatedly during the very high trading volumes we saw in late summer. I don't think that the entity/entities buying this stock up were either retail investors, or institutional investors with any great faith in cor as a company. They may...

Davidal, So lame that I'm right about those losers (mngmnt). I predict there will be no deal. The PIPE will pass at about 66%. They will offer all 100M new shares at .15 - 60M/ w 30M warrants and 10M to R&R. That raises about $9M. They will waste it on an expanded SA trial that will suffer from the usual ills, and at the end of the day, they still won't get a deal. They are stupid and stubborn, just like the Green Bay Packers...

If Cortex can only get a lowball deal, they may wait until after the financing to take it. Also unless it is down to the dotting the i's phase of the deal, it's not close.

It's already there. If it breaks 1075 on a close, it is probably over. If it goes below 1035 it would be very negative.

Grandstanding with 20/20 hindsight 2 or 3 years later isn't exactly your ticket to Hall of Fame credentials. 1) That's the best example of "bias" you can come up with? What does my assessment of Cortex management have to do my view of R&R's self-serving target of that time, produced when they were trying to maneuver a sale of Cortex to their own hand-picked group? I know, you'll say that the sale...

Gfp - your comment below is my thought as well. My fear is, Cortex will keep stringing the company's survival along with a couple more financings. There still has to be a way to make some money off this thing though. I remember watching MEMY and GTCB and other 'phoenix' stocks that rose from the ashes. Cortex has some valuable compounds/technology, and someone is going to end up with them. It ...

==and the distortions/deflections put out by the apologists and the apologist's followers,=== Really? And I thought your snide comments about me wanting to buy low priced stock in cortex many months ago were an isolated attack. Now I can see it is an ingrained pattern that knows no bounds, as long as it appeases your current sense of worth. For the record, the info put out by those who know the ...

Neuro, Any thoughts on EnVivo and Xytis' chances with their nicotinic/Ach programs? Sounds like Vince is still having funding problems, and looking for a partner since last year. Some things never change I guess :o) From that article, EnVivo sounded kind of interesting, though both it and Xytis are privately held. The article doesn't make Targacept sound all that great, but it's stock sure has ...
