Medco is running a comparative effectiveness study of Plavix vs Effient trial, in which patients in the Plavix arm are genotyped for their CYP2C19 status. (http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00995514). Medco is trying to prove non-inferiority of Plavix in normal CYP2C19 metabolizers. If it works out for Medco, by the time Plavix goes of patent, simple genotyping test can distinguish those who can take cheap generics from those who cannot....

Budiodarone - No additional safety results from what I can see. I wonder what the p value for the 200 mg dose is. Having 3 doses would be a useful selling point over other drugs.

Short-term US interest rates turn negative By Michael Mackenzie in New York Financial Times November 20 2009 01:40 Short-term US interest rates turned negative on Thursday as banks frantically stockpiled government securities in order to polish their balance sheets for the end of the year. THanks as well for posting the repots. I noticed the Canaccord report
Momenta intends to start a large, relatively expensive Phase 2b trial of M118 in ACS in 2010, which could significantly increase R&D spend if the program is not partnered.
I am pretty sure I heard (on the Lazard Call?) that they will NOT start this until they find a partner.

PYMX:
…isn't MNTA's M118 something that, if successfully
developed, could ultimately limit the potential of this type of drug [a
reversing agent for unfractionated heparin and Lovenox]?
Yes and
no. M118 has the potential to substantially reduce Lovenox use in ACS;
however, ACS is a relatively small part of the Lovenox pie. In VTE, which

It's used in 100% of cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. The only time it
wouldn't be used is when heparin isn't used, say a patient is allergic to
it. Heparin needs to be reversed, you can't just wait for the patient to
bleed out.
