Looking just at the first week of the month, 11/6/09 vs 12/4/09, when scripts are the strongest: Byetta-6.1% Symlin-5.2% Lantus-6.3% Januvia-7.8% Strong, but not great. We have two weeks of non holidays which should be indicative, and then we should see a drop off for Christmas and New Years weeks. See you at $150, the best is yet to come. Wrong.   Clinical tials to compare two drugs are performed using two approved drugs.  The FDA will not allow a comparison trial to proceed on drugs they haven not approved.   Clinical trials to approve a drug are conducted on a drug that has not been approved. msg 63326

It may be a question of costs or candidates. I have read that trials outside of the US are substantially less expensive to run. Also there is the question of candidates. I would think think that thanks to prescription drugs and/or supplements that the US is the most heavily medicated country in the world (no facts to back this up, just speculation). It would appear to me that the shorter the list of meds and supplements a candidate might be on...

It is my pleasure, as an early investor (and believer) in Amlyn, to announce to the message board that Byetta is now officially FDA approved for monotherapy. This announcement occurred after the market had closed. What this means: 1.) The bad news that has in the recent past surrounded Byetta was invented to lower the stock price.
