Lauren, Amaranthe has some very good advice there. Get on the phone and check every clinic that you can and see what can be done. I also think what she said about getting a letter of recommendation from your old clinic is a great piece of advice. That can help you a great deal but please check in and let us know that you are all right (and calling your insurance should be the first thing you do because they will have the list of places they...

I use to have a Plastic Surgeon that removed Tumors off my face and he billed my Insurance and they paid him only about 1/2 of the charges for his billed amount. So He dropped me with out any warning Because he didn't get his full billed amount for the service. I guess if I was a doctor , and I performed a service for the patient , and I then billed your insurance company , and when they paid me for that service , I only recieved a...

In this day and age, most physician offices have contracts with various insurance companies, in which they agree on specific payments for specific services. Your insurance company should be able to provide you with a list of doctors covered under your plan. With the coming of the new year in less than a month, many contracts will be in the renewal process. It's extremely inconvenient for many patients (and their doctors!) but it does...

Both my female urologist and male internist are fairly young. Again gender nor age guarantee compassion nor do they guarantee knowledge of a subject.

I almost had this happen to me with one of my doctors but thankfully they made a deal with the insurance that they both could live with so I was very happy. I know its rough finding another doctor (most especially a pain doctor I would think (as most will label us as pill seekers). Maybe your family doctor can take you on? Or have him/her get you a referral for another doctor.

I have found that the generic do not stick nearly as good as the name brand. When I use the generic brand I have to use tape to make them stay put. And sometimes that don't work. When I said about the pills (oxycodone 5mg) were no doing anything for the pain he said well you have the patches and also the pain pump. Then I said maybe the pump is not working again like the other pump I had. It had like a cystual at the end of it and nothing...

What a freckin idiot!! Run, don't walk to another one!!!! That's right up there with it being a somataform and "all in our heads" I really don't think that gender has anything to do with it!! I was referred a few times to pain mangagement. When I'd call to set up an appointment I ask it they knew anything about IC and the pain it brings and "she" answered "what's...

I have had IC for 10 years now. I am turning 30 this year and feel as though I am falling apart. I started getting real fatigued about 7 months ago. I talked with my doctor and discussed Dex options. I was put on Dex and the fatigue got a lot better. Everything got better no major flares, only getting up 2x a night, normal energy, lose IC diet. Then about 3 months ago I come down with Swine...

Hang in there pain management is just what it sounds like a Dr. who helps you with pain. I agree you need to be able to function and be a part of your family and life, and you need sleep and alot of ICer's are sleep deprived from pain and frequency.
good luck MG

Your doctor can help you with a referral for pain management, but usually they will want to try some treatments first. Are you following an IC diet? That can be very important in keeping pain levels low.

That's just so wrong! It's unbelievable! Don't forget if this was a disease that effected more men than women and it interfeared with their sex life like it does ours there would have been a cure by now or medicines that work better than what we have now... LOL It's true!

I have begun to get UTI's every month now after my period ends. I used to just FEEL like I had one, which is of course one of the hallmark symptoms of this disease, however now I am actually getting UTI's on top of my IC. If you feel worse than you did before, chances are you still have the infection and the antibiotics you were given did not do their job.

When I was forced last year to try the Sansoz generic patches ( new insurance Anthem)I over dosed and was very ill. It took a letter from my Urol. to get the Ins, co.'s to cooperate. It was hell on me and I'd just married after "thinking I had a life back from IC"..I had bad rashed from the patches adhesives, if it sticked at all)..and over dosed because the delivery was not good, or it was to ...

Hi
I had very good luck with dilaudid 4mg for severe pain without side effects. It is a short acting med so I imagine it is used mostly for breakthrough pain. I took it as needed. It is a very potent med and not all drs are comfortable prescribing it. A plus is that it doesn't contain tylenol so it is not so hard on the liver.
