Does anyone do Cystistat?

JKS, Yes, I participated in the Uracyst trial so I am a little biased too. Anyway, both of these are not drugs but have been taken for years in supplements. Chondritin and glucosamine are used together over the counter for joint pain now (and it helps a great deal). I don't mind long term studies on real drugs that may cause damage to the body. I think this one as it is used is over the counter now. I think either of these instils would...

Thanks for the information. I am frustated too with the delays in medicine getting FDA approval but then I remember the issues with the anti-nausea medication given for morining sickness when all those babies were born without arms. US was one of the only country that did not approved the medication. I did look up Uracyst and found a few studies. It looks promising. The site was www.clinicaltrials.gov . They are doing research on intersitital...

Raging UTI! Need to know if UTI...
Published (2009-12-24 05:32:00)
I had been on Macrobid as a prophylactic, but it didn't work, I still had UTI's in spite of it. My urine was clean, the culture was negative! Phew!! Now hopefully the last treatment will go well, and I will be able to take a break! Feeling ok today, just disappointed because I am a school nurse, and have received so much food and candy that I should not be having. One of the teachers gave me a tiny loaf of none other than CRANBERRY...

Yes, I checked into Cystistat and ask one of my uro's to oder it for me under the, "Compassion Act." He would not because it was not FDA approved. There is not that much info out there on it. I did read some good reviews from a couple people who had posted on this board. It is very expensive (about $250 to $300) per vial - per treatment. It sounds like Uracyst may be just as good or even ...

If I were you, I'd ask if I can bring in a urine sample for testing. Sometimes there's some irritation after an instillation --- what was in the solution instilled?

You can find a lot of posts about Elmiron instills on this forum under "Rescue Instills". It is usually combined with Lidocaine or Marcaine, which numbs the bladder, and sodium bicarb, which to raise the pH of the solution. Sometimes a steroid is included to reduce inflammation, and some use Elmiron and some use Heparin, which also coats. I did a series of 6 Elmiron instillations. I can't say ...

Hi there!
I'm sorry you are hurting so bad. I had my first instill back in Sept. and I thank God that it was not painful for me at all. Now, my 2nd one wasn't as pleasant. I think the most uncomfortable part was the insertion of the catheter. It didn't hurt he first time, but the second time it did. I have only had 2 done. I did get some relief from them, but not enough to want to do them ...

They instructed me to use Dial antibacterial liquid soap on either sterile gauze or a clean wash cloth --- I opted for the wash cloth. I washed them in hot water with bleach and kept them separate.

Im starting uracyst on Monday and my Dr's secretary sent me to a place where you could get uracyst without a prescription because it was quicker than to order from pharmacy. This is in Canada I can find out for you.

I think it just depends on the doctor and the patient's symptoms. I think some do offer them right off the bat to jump start the Elmiron and to give some symptom relief from the marcaine or lidocaine. I'm talking about rescue instills, not DMSO. My doctor didn't mention them, so a few months after being diagnosed I requested a round. I did one a week for six weeks. It did numb the bladder ...
