Help...worse after 2nd...
Published (2009-12-28 14:40:00)
After I had my 2nd hydro/cysto two weeks ago, I am so much worse. I have terrible pain that feels like a bulge of inflammation. When I sit up, it feels like there is not enough room for my bladder and woman parts on the left side. Does anyone else feel worse when sitting? I am watching my diet carefully, and am on Elmiron, Vesicare, and Amitryptilin. Taking Prelief and Cystoprotek. Laporoscopy in July was negative for endometriosis.

Thank you so much for all your help and input. Seriously every last one of you helped me get some perspective here. I have thought about things quite a bit (and of course I will have more time before the appointment which is the soonest we could get in). Its probably going to be a bit controversial, but I've been known to roll the dice before. Either way I am going to opt for removal of the mass or fibroids only. I have a REALLY bad...

I am wishing the best for you. I wanted to add that hysterectomy was not my first option. He did laparascopic surgery to remove the endo/cysts and did an ablation. He did not give me the option of hysterectomy (thought that was my wish) and I was done having kids, and the ablation would prevent childbirth anyway. I ended up with the hysterectomy because the endo was so bad and so deep he couldn't get it all (& he is very skilled,...

Sorry you are in so much pain. Have you been checked for a UTI? Some people have taken 6 to 8 weeks to see improvement after a hydro. How did you react to your first hydro? I hope you see improvement very soon. Teresa

I think you may be borrowing trouble. True you have been through your fair share of turmoil in your life, and I feel terrible for you. Until the doctor finds something, don't worry about it! I too had a small lump on the side of my nose, inside corner of my eye, and it was cancer, I didn't sweat it because they got it all. They had to pressure pack the corner of my eye so the scar didn't puff up since the skin is soooo tight in...

First of all I am really sorry you are having to deal with all this and it sounds like you have already dealth with alot. My friend had a hysto from fibroids her uterus was the size of a 5 mon preg, she is really happy now she had it done, my utreus was also this size or larger due to ando, having a hysto is the best thing I ever did for my IC. Having said this take a step back your mind is running away with it's self, meditate or...

Dear ICPrincess~ I'm so sorry you are under such stress with all that's going on. First off, I'm not formally diagnosed with IC, and have NO experience with cancer in our family so I don't know if my info is helpful to you. I did have a full hysterectomy in Nov 07 when I had bladder suspension surgery. My husband and I agree that almost immediately I began having what we NOW understand to be IC symptoms. One urologist was...

I'd reccomend seeing a female doctor. A family member of mine had fibroid tumors larger than a baby, if you can believe it. Yes, she had a hystorectomy, but was able to keep her ovaries. She let the thing grow and grow though, and suffered a lot. Some male Drs have that whole "just take the whole thing out, you don't need it anymore anyway" philosophy. Which is a very logical, male, way of thinking. BUT there are...

I'm sorry you're going through this! It's very scary! And then to be coming down with the flu on top of everything else! I was thinking along the same lines as MG, if they felt this was really serious they wouldn't be putting off your appointment until Jan 18th! Hopefully, following your upcoming appointment you'll have more info and then will be able to see the right path to take more clearly. I also have large...

I guess it was positive in the fact that it diagnosed me, but negative in the fact that it caused me so much pain for so long afterwards. I wouldn't have it done again that's for sure.

Sunflower,
How long ago did you have the hydro? I have never had one myself, but have read that other people say the effects can last for 4 to 6 weeks and maybe beyond. I hope that will not be the case for you.
You may want to ask your doctor about something for inflammation maybe Atarax would help. Some people are using Aloe Vera to help with inflammation. Also, I think Cystoprotek ...

I don't know why either, you might want to call the out-patient surgery center where you will be doing this and ask for a nurse to see what the instructions are, (even though they usually call you a day or two before surgeries/procedures).
I have had a handful of hydros/cystos and the only thing that I have to do is having nothing by mouth from midnight on.

I have read that it's possible, but an IC diagnosis is not made on the hydrodistention only. My IC was diagnosed based on several other tests, plus my pain levels .

When I had my cysto/hydro, I was hoping for the instant relief the doctors said many patients had (and some really do on this site). However, like you I felt better for a couple of days and then went into a major flare for 3 weeks. I was in pain and peeing all the time and a miserable mess for all to see. I suffered through work and then, all of a sudden after the 3rd week I felt RELIEF! It ...

The only advice I have is to try to relax. The more tense you are, the more difficult the test is.
