Sugar and Wheat - Page 2 -...

Angeles, I eat white rice, but lately I've been eating brown rice. Like I've said, I hate being on a super restrictive diet. I want to live, enjoying what I eat! I'm a pretty good cook and I like to experiment. I use the Yeast Fighters by Twin Lab. I've also used Yeast Raiders by another company. They're both almost the same. I think they both contain Golden Seal, which is part of what makes them so effective plus all...

Teacher2be: what yeast fighter do you take twice a day? I dontvthink i can do the super strict candida diet but will eliminate all refined sugar excess and sweets. True we need to find what works for us and if it does great! I imagine you refer to brown rice as white rice is one of the biggest siurces of carbs and makes your sugar go to the roof.

I do MUCH better when I do a wheat/sugar free diet also. It's hard, but I feel so much better. Splenda makes me worse though. Stevia is ok for me.

Hi- It is not prelief that I am looking for. It comes in sort of a salt shaker that you sprinkle directly on your food. They do not sell it here any longer but if anyone knows where I can find it I would really appreciate it! Ginny

You might consider an antibiotic after sex. I was getting UTIs 5 to 6 times a year and was able to connect them to intercourse. I started taking one antibiotic pill after sex several years ago and haven't had a UTI since. I was worried about yeast infections (b/c of the antibiotics), but haven't had one of those since either.

I wanted to wait at least a full month or so before posting this in case I jinxed myself or was experiencing a fluke or something. I have had non-stop urinary tract infections for months and was getting into the habit of having to take a few Cipro every time my period ended. My urine is never perfectly clean. If I don't have a full blown infection, I usually show at least a trace amount of Leukocytes (white blood cells). Cipro is harsh on...

Salt!

I can't imagine that reducing your salt intake will be a bad thing. It's a very rare individual living in this country today who doesn't get more than enough salt. It may not do much for your IC, but it will probably be good for you. Your taste buds will adjust fairly quickly, and it won't be long before you realize just how salty the typical American diet is.

Its also recommended not to take it if one has an autoimmune disorder and since IC is suspected to be autoimmune I stay away from it.

I totally agree that sugar does make yeast grow out of control! I also feel better when I do not use sugar in my diet. This is so hard for me though.. But it can and does make me feel better.. I am glad it is helping you..

I haven't used them in a while, but I found that I could tolerate Cranberry pills just fine vs. the real thing. I still use real cranberries occasionally, crazy but I love the taste. They actually do give me a bit of a flare, but it goes away by the next day. I also found that apple cider vinegar tablets help with uti's and they don't bother my bladder at all. I went from a severe case of IC ...

I thought they still advertised it. I've used it in the past. I'm pretty sure that they still sell it.

Maybe it never expires. LOL I have used MSM capsules with good results orally, but never tried the gel. You could always call the company. Just a thought.

I suggest anyone considering this alternative, first read the information at http://quackwatch.com/search/webglim...lloidal+sil ver
Cranberries in any form are almost always a bladder irritant for an IC patient, even though they might be helpful to help avoid infections in a HEALTHY BLADDER.

I don't know how much you should take, but I do believe that a lot of us are deficient in magnesium. I believe we should all be supplementing with it. I am looking into it now for my daughter who has recently been diagnosed with lyme. It's one of the things that has been recommended to me that she should take.

Just remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it almost always is!
That said, I was on a salt restricted diet for several years for a blood pressure problem and it did not do anything for my interstitial cystitis.
