Transformer-winding wire

You could try having a pot of hot solder and dipping the end in (melting) - but what are you making? L

Voltage Regulator
Published (2009-07-06 10:41:00)
I checked my own facts--there shouldn't be a difference AC vs DC :p. It's more of a hi vs. low voltage thing... So rectifying it on the turbine is OK.

People with a filter problem

I've never liked those...especially when parents install them for their kids. I was doing a project at a kid's house once and we had to continually get his dad to put in the password so that we could get to space shuttle photos online.

Where to buy large glass tubes?
Published (2009-07-05 12:53:00)
right, that was the plan. I'm going to try and learn how to using little glass test tubes (for testing xD). And the electrodes don't look to hard to make, after all, I saw a youtube video on it, so I'm pretty much a proffesional xD. do you know if the electrode materials used are important?

64 bit to 32 bit
Published (2009-07-06 13:18:00)
Presumably because, if it's not new enough to run Vista or 7, 64 bit XP is a terrible curse of biblical proportions, and 64 bit linux is... like normal linux but a little bit more faff. If, for instance, he wants to use any sort of wireless network hardware ever made, going 32 bit is just common sense.

XPC Shuttle shows no sign of power.
Published (2009-07-04 07:38:00)
After that, you need to crack the case, if the power supply is ATX then you can disconnect the power supply from the motherboard and jumper the green power supply wire to any of the black power supply wires and see if the power supply works (fan should run, be able to measure voltage from black to the other colors(you can find charts to tell you what those should be)). If that doesn't work you need a new power supply, if it does work,...

Hello! I need a voltage smoother and regulator on my circuit(attached below)it is a modified shunt charge controller circuit. It converts the Tri phase alternating current to DC and feeds it into the circuit. The regulator will have to be attachable to the BATTERIES wire in the circuit. It should not consume more than 1v power on its own.My Vout to the battery currently is fluctuating.I will...

I am going to be hand-wiring up a large lot of transformers. Someone has told me there is an enameled wire ( magnet wire) whose coating melts when you dip it in solder (also tinning the copper tip at the same time). What is this type of wire called? I am having a hard time searching for it. Thanks!

My mom today took me to work to help throw out alot of junk at her place. since they're closing down and have almost no need for it, they gave me they're old XPC shuttle SG31G2 I believe, which wouldn't turn on for some reason. You can't convert but 32bit systems can run on a 64bit machine, but they'll not recognize all the hardware... Why do you need 32bit anyways?

thermal grease and bolts should be fine; they were widely used for everything long before anyone had ever heard of "thermal epoxy."

Please Read Before Commenting: Allow me to clarify: First, I hate calling it mac vs. pc, as a Mac is also a personal computer, but for convenience we'll stick with the idea that there's difference. My reason for making this thread is that I recently learned that the UF college of journalism (one of the best journalism schools in the US) requires all of it's third year students to ...
