QUOTE (MurkyThud @ Nov 11 2009, 09:14 AM) Wow i have tried so many things i am not sure where i am at this point...except i still do not have sound. I am a complete Apple noob but learning quickly.....just not quick enough. My setup: Running 10.5.7 iATKOS v7 GA-EP45-UD3R E8500 ATI 4890 X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (would love for this to work) But after reading a lot of the internet...it just is not easy to get to work. For some reason the sound is works fine on any Ubuntu version or on Windows XP. I have now also pulled out my Connexant TV card which I thought could probably interfere with the audio chip on OSx86. However, now I'm back with the AppleAC97Audio.kext and sound works for the normal beeps, but playing any media still sucks. Could anybody give me some hint if recompiling the AppleAC97Audio module would help? QUOTE (Belveder @ Nov 3...

SL performs super sweet on the Aspire One, pitty about the internal WIFI. Cheers Alex What's your Wifi manufacture and model? I may have a solution.

All seems to be working well. I can manually switch from optical out to headphones out (the connector on the front of my PC) - is this meant to be automatic? Also, the volume control in the bar at the top of the screen is greyed out when i am on optical out. It is also greyed out in system preferences / sound with the message that 'the selected device has no output controls'... is this normal?

QUOTE (lkelly2006 @ Nov 7 2009, 06:11 PM) What's your Wifi manufacture and model? I may have a solution. Its the well known AR5007 Atheros bundled internal WIFI. I had some success making it work under 10.5 using the "kismac trick". About the audio issue, I see some lines refering to the appleHDA audio engine, but all goes so fast that I dont have the time to read, I tried to delete AppleHDA and restore...

Another good idea is to check out the Tutorials and Buying Recommendation areas, see what problems or solutions people have found for various netbooks.

QUOTE (luro @ Nov 10 2009, 11:58 PM) Hi all, is there a new version of x64_audio_for_ALC888? It doesn´t work with 10.6.2. (10.6.1 no problem) Thanks in advance hi if you have the backup of 10.6.1's AppleHDA.kext you can try to restore it back. I think the AppleHDA.kext of 10.6.1 and 10.6.2 is different. I got back my sound after i restore back to 10.6.1's AppleHDA.kext...

With all the DSDT editing and whatnot floating around i desperately sought after a simpler solution. This method uses HDEFEnabler, a x64 version of HDAEnabler from Taruga, and a patched AppleHDA of unknown origins (if you know it belongs to you let me know and i will add your name for credit). These cant be installed to an efi partition, and have to go in /S/L/E, but if it saves me ...

Try using VoodooPS2 to enable the touchpad, and VoodooHDA for the audio. Both can be grabbed from voodooprojects.org. Good luck on your hackintosh... shame about the incompatible 4500M videocard though!

Okay.... updated to 10.5.6 from apple.com. Had to delete AppleHDA kext and HDAEnabler and reuse Dell Post Installer again. Have sound from the speakers still. Will update if still working when I go up to 10.5.7.

I spotted a difference between the MacBook Pro and the desktop: the desktop is running in 64-bit mode. Also found these in the system log: - Can't load /System/Library/Extensions/PaeFireStudio.kext - no code for running kernel's architecture. - Failed to load /System/Library/Extensions/PaeFireStudio.kext - (libkern/kext) requested architecture/executable not found. I guess the ...
