Does System.GetOSName() return...

Windows 7 did not exist even as a beta when suf7 was out. So how could it? Your best be would be to use the windows api to get the version #'s and figure out if it's win7 based on that. Of ourse, the easist solution is to upgrade to suf8.

Thanks. I'll probably do the upgrade to SUF8...just needed a quick fix to resolve an app problem related to XP/Vista/7.

SF 7 on XP and Vista/7 installs
Published (2009-12-09 16:32:00)
Hi, Using SF 7 on XP. Notice that if I try to set Conditions for multiple files, each file can get 'tagged' for different OS's. Its inconsistency is very consistent ;-) And second question, please? I have files that are all native Vista but SF 7, when I choose %ProgramFiles% as destination, during installation on a PC with Vista 64 bit, SF7 wants to put them in \Program Files (x86)? Thanks. RJ

No. You can use System.GetOSVersionInfo() to retrieve the version, which is 6.1.7100 for the RC and 6.1.7600 for the current release of Windows 7. Ulrich

File.Run uses CreateProcess which will in turn cause the spawned process to inherit the permissions of the setup. File.Open uses ShellExecute. You could try it instead.

are you running from a network share? cdrom? usbthumbdrive? if so; copy to local hard drive & see if it still happens, if it does; rebuild the installer.

I would guess that "j" is sometimes not the proper PID.

At the minimum, can I get a count of "external" files there are, and I can at least show '5 of 135 PDF files' to show how far there is to go?

I think this is going to depend on your definition of "compatible".

You'd only see a flash of the status dialog, since reading a text file is extremely quick.
