I was just marking words , of course the route was not destroyed. A trail may become temporarily impossible, due to heavy torrential rain and flash floods. Bridges get destroyed or washed away, and if there is a river that is not fordable it may close a trail for long.

Dhumdar kandi, Auden's col , Traills pass, Makalu base camp to Chukung via Sherpani col etc are some of the difficult trekking routes, from the accounts that i have read and the pictures that i have seen. Wait a minute...to me unless one can complete a route by just using hands and legs without the usage of any equipment, be it ropes or ice axe or crampons, it would start to creep into the territory of moutaineering. Although usage of...

Sandakphu is a good place to visit for any family. The trail is nice and easy to hike. As well as you will get Mahindra Land rovers in case if anyone feels very tired to walk.
Sandakphu will gift you the majestic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga along with Kabru North, Kabru South, Kabru Dome, Rathong, Jannu, Simvo, Mt. Pandim, Jopuno, Narsing etc. - a huge range of snow peaks.

Dear sks551,
Welcome to IM.
Take a train journey to Haridwar and then hire a car from there. No need for a travel opeartor. However, due to environmental concerns, daily only 150 people are allowed on Gangotri-Gomukh trek. And you need to seek permission from Forest Office, Uttarkashi for this trip.
There are many threads on this topic. Please scroll to the bottom of the page ...

I read that the Manali-leh route opens only around last week of may. Is this correct? Would shifting the plan to early june be advisable or is may ok? Please advice.
Also, I am from Mumbai. I was planning to take a train to Chandigarh and then to manali. I believe that I should be taking a bus from Chandigarh in the evening and be reaching Manali next day morning around 8 (if I do so). Will...

Well Gunaraj,
You'd find it hard to directly join clubs or groups going to EBC from India. You'll be helped by a travel agency instead. Don't worry, many other people will be with you while you are traveling to EBC, the customers of the same travel agency. Don't get on hassles. Just look for a good travel agency in India.
