The first four places are all within the city itself and can be seen in a morning if you want to whizz around from one to the other. Or else take your time and you can see them in a day, have lunch half way. There is a bus to Sam but does not go regularly, so your visit out there is best done by car or jeep. A car will travel via Khuldara which is about 20 - 30 mins. drive out from Jaisalmer and is just off the Sam road and in the same...

Yes Hitanshu. Couldn't get Tatkal :-( Sharma Travels appears to be a private bus operator. You are saying private bus operators also operate buses between Jaipur and Jaisalmer? Do you have any contacts for them? That will be a great help. And also, can I book/reserve 2 seats sitting here in Delhi? Thanks

Would 2s and SL classes only mean 2 nights on the couch? You can get the Shatabdi to Jaipur (CC), some seats are reservad for 'day of travel sale' on Shatabdi trains, they go on sale 2 hours before departure, be in the queue (at 'current reservations counter' unless the Shatabdi has it's own ticket kiosk, ask at the station) early. There is still availability in 1A, but a single ticket costs Rs 885 Or get a bus/taxi to...

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I am unable to plan my trip at Jaisalmer. Here are the places I have heard are good and worth a visit. I will be arriving from Jaipur in the afternoon at 12 and will be leaving the next night ( I can extend it till noon of 30th if I will travel from Sam to Jodhpur directly) Few things I want to know: How far are these places from one another? 1. Jaisalmer fort 2. Patwon ki haweli 3. Gadi Sagar lake 4....

I traveled by Sharma Travels' Bikaner Jaisalmer sleeper bus. They had NO blankets. Wasnt too bad in Jan! PS: Failed in booking tatkal train tickets?

morning from Udaipur and stay the same night there after doing some local
sight seeing.next day also can hang around and come back to Udaipur .rest
of the time is pretty enough for lake city.

You'll be moving too fast to fully enjoy some of this trip, need to refine what you most want to see/experience most, IMHO.......
For example, just for a start, and if you can, add a night in Varanasi. Its worth it and slowing down a bit and relaxing as you go along.

While you wait for replies, I suggest you have a good read within the Rajasthan forum itself. There are a number of threads on hotels in various parts of Rajasthan, and also ideas for taxis. India Travel Itinerary Advice forum also has threads for costs of cars etc.
For hotels it would be helpful to let us know your budget range. There are also hotels recommended in the Hotels section of ...

You're really in it I'm afraid, even Tatkal has long waitlists, and I checked trains to Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner.
The only chance you've got is a remote one, but as you're on the point of divorce it has to be worth a try.

This sounds a bit like what we did
We had our own driver and our itinerary took us from:
Delhi --> Mandawa --> Bikaner --> Jaisalmer --> Jodhpur --> Udaipur and from here we caught the plane up to Amritsar.
You don't mention how much time you have to play with, we only had three weeks in total and that's why we flew north. If we would have had more time we might have jumped on a ...
