Thanks so much, seems like we don't have a capability issue but are split on the use of towing mirrors. Very much appreciate the pictures - helps me to visualize the solutions implemented.

Yes, they are 32" but I have steel suspension. I was suprized they fit as well. I took lots of measurements before I ordered them. Thank god for Tire Rack's size charts. The tightest spot is near the front inner fender right near the reflector when I turn the wheel. So far so good.

I am also fairly certain that I broke many other laws when the Porsche came off the trailer. Brake controller will be installed before next...

Well, there you go then!! Quite a neat solution. Another big advantage with the marine ones is all the weight you're saving. Four 4-3/4 ton shackles can get quite heavy.

I use tiptronic to select and hold a gear when going uphill or downhill...also will use tiptronic if the transmission is moving between gears a lot (hunting).

I can't believe you are not rubbing somewhere in the front with those tires.

I have driven in soft sand many times in the dunes of Cali near the Mexican/Arizona border. I even did it with the orginal Mich. tires. Experienced soft sand drivers know that you must air down for soft sand. I even drove in the sand with a trailer and did not get stuck. I did it in low with ESP off.

I'm surprised that there isn't legislation in your area requiring installation of trailer brakes and controller for anything over certain (750 kg> (1500lb)<>?) weight before you could use it on the road.

2. I mounted mine just above where my left shin...out of the way, but I can reach down and operate by hand if required.

Mike, We have similar concerns - it is my understanding that even though I have ordered everything VW provides for towing, I will still need to bring my own controller to the party when my Touareg shows up. Additionally, I also am worried about seeing around my wide trailer and have concerns about the supplied mirrors.

I think im helping my own cause on this one, if anyone could double check that would be great:
OEM Tow Hitch (includes bumper rebar, padding, hitch, etc.)
7L0092105UA
Electrical Installation Kit
7L0055204U-1
Anything else?
ECS Tuning had these, better prices on 1stvwparts.com though.

I put an aftermarket hitch on my 04 V8 and pull a 19' fiberglass boat. I was told that with the factory hitch it comes with everything you need. All the wireing harnesses and brake controllers. I could not find anything that would connect to any harnesses and had to splice into the taillights. I haven't had any problems with the wiring job messing with the computer, but don't know about the ...

I can't help with an extension of the mirrors, but you mentioned that a certain extension didn't fit the newer style mirrors, do you know of one that will fit the older style on my 04? You 8.5' is wide, mine isn't that wide and I have trouble with my mirrors seeing around it.
