Thank...You...Gigabyte. Heysuse freaking krispy cream! TMI dude. Don't overclock the memory. Memory is in line with the data path from the CPU and the motherboard, and it's as fat as your CPU dictates. Once you've found that...you're done. Overclocking memory is like turning a country road with one combine a day into a 4 lane freeway. Why? It still has the same traffic! When you OC, you take the memory with it. Once...

The 212 is decent and priced well but its a sad joke here. I'm not going to repeat myself again This wasn't long ago. http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100398 I have a nice little rant here from Feb 2009. http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=89836 Gigabyte wrote: I remember when they reviewed the Thermalright Ultra eXtreme 120 & tried to give it a bad rep because it didn't come with a fan. Unfortunately we have been over safe and sane overclocking methods and so forth with the OP on numerous other threads. With all the guidance and recommendations he is wont to go his own way, as he is entitled to. Case in point the refusal to recognize the dangers of software overclocking. And persistantly persuing the "easy quick and dirty way to overclock". Has yet to realize that "TurboV" is not a part of...

Thank you for the advice on not overclocking the memory. Like I said in my first post I am aspiring to overclock in BIOS eventually, software overclocking keeps my system from not posting on startup and always having to go in and out of BIOS for every little change. I am at the tail end of this in fact, the o'c software has been uninstalled and the settings stored in BIOS this whole week. Will take your advice on the CPU freq as the...

Things seems to be running far better. I wasn't able to pull 1.4v before, so I was hesitant to reach it again. However, since that last attempt, I'be installed silver thermal paste and have gotten an Antec 900 case, so I now have a fan blowing directly on...

It could be my Pentium D was the older 90 nm smithfield core which is making mine really hot. It is at 45 degrees Celcius under full load now on a CNPS9700NT. Ted

How far are you clocking the CPU? What are your current loaded core temps? What are your system specs? Such as case, mobo, memory model/part nr.

Reason I am specifically requesting help overclocking my system's memory is that I have already overclocked the rest of my system. The memory is the only part I am having problems with. For safety reasons and to save time constantly going in and out of BIOS to overclock, I have been using software to overclock my system ever since it was built a few months ago. Changes I made also were ...

myself, i haven't used the h50, but i do have 4 corsair water coolers. two of their original 300 series, and two of the later 500s. i have been completely satisfied with them all. the h50 is not a new design, i think the original was a coolermaster with the same self contained design. i used a CM with a p4 for about 2 years, with no issues, no need to refill, no maintenance. i can only ...

You're running pretty hot IMHO. When you say "at load" are you talking a 100% burn for 20 minutes? If it's just general use for 20 minutes, even with a stock HSF, and you're getting nearly 80C I'd really look into how well you've got your HSF seated as well as any other passive cooling you've got going on.

I'd say try lapping the cooler. If that doesn't fix it, try lapping the CPU. also, ditch that AS5. It was great stuff 5 years ago, nowadays there's way better pastes like ICD7 or Tuniq TX-2 .
